Reicast & GD-Rom games

The path for naomi.zip is in the dc subfolder of system (same as the dreamcast bioses).

yes, it is found in subdirectory dc where there are also the bios of the dreamcast. I need to understand how to launch a naomi game … do you know the command lines to run them? do you need a special set of roms? I have both those working under Demul and with MAME but nothing works here …

Your command seems fine, the mame romset is fine, maybe make sure your retroarch, core, and info files are up-to-date ? Also, what’s the game you are trying to launch ? Are you really using command line or are you using an external frontend (i know some of them do stupid things like unzipping the roms, which will prevent reicast to run naomi games) ?

Posting the verbose logging would help figuring out the issue.

Between the bad formatting and the italian, it’s hard to understand anything… however there is the [ERROR] overlays variable not defined in config message repeated again and again, i think the issue comes from there, so it seems like a setup issue.

I don’t know what you are doing wrong, however there is no mention to reicast neither ikaruga in your logs, which is abnormal, it means it’s not seeing the core at all (see my post above Reicast & GD-Rom games). Maybe rewrite the command with the full path ? Something like this :

I use the bios naomi.zip of mame, is this ok?

Resolved!!! it was the version of the bios that was obsolete! Thanks for the support and the time spent helping me … I would like to ask you a couple of things that are not related to this topic therefore I await confirmation if I can ask.

@adolfo69 This is really weird, i’m not convinced the bios was the issue :

  • with my command line it was saying E:\RetroArch\cores\reicast_libretro.dll doesn’t exist, but that should be the same path as when you call cores\reicast_libretro.dll from E:\RetroArch with your command line
  • it was previously trying to save to E:\RetroArch\saves.srm and E:\RetroArch\states.state with your command line, but the path should have been E:\RetroArch\saves\ikaruga.srm and E:\RetroArch\saves\ikaruga.state (names after the file you are trying to launch), as it is with mine
  • this core won’t try to load the bios before outputing the things i mentioned in Reicast & GD-Rom games , those output were missing from all your logs so the core wasn’t at the part where it’s trying to load the bios yet.

I’m glad you sorted out the issue anyway. Feel free to ask anything else but it might be better to open another issue if it’s unrelated to the current one.
