Resident Evil Remake for 2 and 3

I always found it a little bit pitty that Resident Evil 2 and 3 never got a remake like RE got. So I played a little bit around and got thise results

What is your opinion? I thought with Dolphin the textures can be modernized to be similar with RE and RE0. So everything which needs to be done is to optimize the current textures and the models of the characters.

Personally, I thought the results tried too much to be cinematographic, creating heavy dissonance with the source material. As I think games and cinema are different things, I didn’t like it. There’s this modern trend to consider games like interactive movies for years now, and it’s something narrow-minded.

But this is a fair point and valid opinion. It is like to align RE 2 and 3 with RE0 and RE to have a consequent presentation of the franchise.

I found meanwhile another project which is also super interesting: Making the Remakes in fixed angles.

Despite the mediocrity in acting and gameplay back then, there was more variety in the 90s FMV era than now where every major game tries to have exactly the same type of dialogues, humour and violence.

I love to talk about games, but I don’t want to hijack OP’s thread. To not derail it too much, I’ll limit my participation to this last post:

As said many times before: limitation breeds creativity. But it also allures some naivety which, in turn, give us quite the surprising results. Campiness is among them. A short example: no one says that “welcome to die” is a Shakespearean line of immense craftsmanship, but it’s exquisite in a good way, it’s punchy and joyful at the same time. It’s there to entertain, that’s the key word. Entertainment was left behind to give way to hype and impression, just like your generic current flick.
