RetroArch 1.3.6+ Beta released for PlayStation3 - PS3 is back!

I’m trying to add playlists manually, i have the last build from October, but i cannot get the games to start if i start them from the list, it either crash or gives error that it cannot find the file depending on the core. I think it’s a known bug that there are problems creating the playlists, hope to see a new release soon, i’d love to have all the games in order in the playlists. BTW i wanted to thank Ezio and everyone else involved in retroarch, almost all games i wanted to have are working fine and i can load them from the history list, and it’s been a blast playing them, old games gave new life to my PS3! Keep up the good work, hope to see playlists working, and maybe a mupen64 core!

I’m pretty new here, so I am not even sure this is the right place to ask this. But I need some help.

I recently got a jailbroken PS3 with Retroarch installed. I immediately looked up some YT videos on how to get some emulators going on it. But the first thing in the video was how to change input settings. Very soon after that, I messed everything up, in two ways. First, I changed the six-axis controller setting to a different type, and it stopped recognizing the controller completely. Nothing I pressed even moved the cursor within Retroarch.

Somehow I got the bright idea to change the controller setting to #2 (by holding the PS button down and changing there), which allowed me to actually control things again. So, like a moron, I continued to configure the #2 six-axis controller (even though I probably didn’t have to do that at all). Then, I screwed the pooch again by neglecting to push all the buttons during (forgive me but I forget what it’s called) the “sequence wherein you press buttons as it prompts you”. But I was too slow to try to remember which would be ‘Y’ and ‘X’ on a SNES controller, and the 3-second countdown passed before I could assign anything to ‘X’. Essentially, there is no ‘X’ button assigned that Retroarch recognizes, so I can’t select anything at all.

I have tried to reassign the controller to #3, 4, 5, etc. but nothing seems to allow me to select anything. My #2 controller will move the cursor around, but still the ‘X’ button is useless. I also have a Logitech USB controller that works just fine to control things on the XMB, but won’t work at all on Retroarch. I don’t know what to do now.

I think I read somewhere in my searching for a solution that said something about resetting input by changing the config file. But I’m not really tech savvy and don’t know how to do that. Honestly, I wish the person who jailbroke my PS3 would have just set up the emulators but I didn’t think I would mess things up so badly so quickly. Please help!

Mike

Is the PS3 Development completly stopped?

Install a file manager if you don’t have one, Multiman has a filemanager built in.

Then navigate and delete /dev_hdd0/game/SSNE10000/USRDIR/retroarch.cfg file

This should reset all configs about controllers

Hey, im having the exact same problem with MAME playlist…ALL other playlists i created are working ok (need more tests, but the games i tried in other core’s playlists worked). I cant get Mame playlist to work in any game. And It corrupts retroarch.cfg. If i load game manually It works perfectly.

I didnt understood the \R thing you said…can you explain to me how did you solve It please? Thanks!

I can only help you for Unix (Mac/Linux). This is what I do:

cat “source/playlists/MAME.lpl” | tr -s “\r” “\n” > “dest/playlists/MAME.lpl”

That basically takes the source MAME.lpl and removes ll the \r and \n then spits out to a destination MAME.lpl that I can load on the PS3.

I dont have any Linux knowledge…dont understood what you did that much hehe. If i upload my MAME playlist can you fix It for me? Why this happen only with MAME playlist? ALL other looks ok here…why only Mame’s? And How did you discovered It? It doesnt make any sense to me, i was almost giving up until i Saw your post… Please help me here because im using my PS3 inside an arcade cabinet, so it’s a pain have to remove It everytime to configure…

sure, just post it here or send me a PM with the file.

One question, everytime that modify the playlist i will have to do this process, or is it one time only?

GUYS, RETROARCH 1.6.0 FOR PS3 was RELEASED! Waiting for CEX version!!!

What was new in this version?

Multipass shaders have never worked on PS3. It’s a known issue. The code for multipasses is broken on PS3 in all released versions, even the latest 1.6.0, unfortunately. This is why many presets don’t work.

What about overlays and borders? I can’t get them working at all.

Hey… it happened to me too… It’s working normally on ps3 menu… but then in retroarch it’s not… but it was… I must have toggled something while on the menu… I was trying the theme color and tried the light one so now I can’t see a thing, cannot set what’s written in the menu, cannot see what I’m doing… and may have toggled or changed the controllervs buttons. cos it won’t do anything or respond. only on retroarch menu… so everything is white… I can see the icons but can’t see which option I’m choosing on the menu… it’s there a way to reset default settings? I tried Uninstalling and then reinstalling the package but it won’t go back to what it was… it’s like I changed every version of reteoarch I install…:disappointed::face_with_symbols_over_mouth: can you help me or anyone who reads this… so. I’d be é to have a guide like 2nd list which is settings and then scroll down X times , then choose that option which is user interface hen scroll down X times to change color theme to go back to a background color that allows new to read what’s on the menu… please help…

You should only need to delete your retroarch.cfg to return to default settings.

hey, ok… I’ve seen that solution… but on PS3 since it’s a pkg type of file… how do I do that? is there a folder with that created on the flash drive where I put the pkg file and the ROMS? thanks
