Retroarch.exe has stopped working

Has this menu issue been defined as a bug? I have the same problem on W7 Intel integrated graphics (X3100). I tried getting logs but they are empty as another user reported.

Switching to rgui in .cfg works but obviously I’d like to use xmb. Are there any plans to address this?

Hi

I got retroarch working on 2 machines (win 10). I copied this working retroarch (a nightly from a few days ago) folder (in which all is portable) onto a windows 10 N, Asus X205 machine. There I got this “retroarch has stopped working” machine. I tried with a fresh retroarch nightly, full zip, same error. Tried switching to rgui, then d3d, same error. Could there be something missing ? Like a runtime or something ? (on the other w10 machines theres nothing installed, fresh windows installs as well, only not “N”, just copied the d3d9_43.dll file to folder)

Thanks

p.s. I should mention that the working installs are 64 bit, on the asus its x86

I’ve got the same problem. Newly built, completely fresh i7 machine with Win 10 and today’s latest nightly build. I try to launch it and it just say’s it has stopped responding. I’ve got it running on 5 other machines fine; Laptops and desktops.

Ive updated the direct-x components, now the emulator launches at least, but still crashes when trying to run a game (with no shader at all). On my other machines I didnt need to do the direct-x update, i just dropped D3DX9_43.dll in RA folder and it worked. Weird.

I was having this issue… just did a clean install of Win7 Ultimate 64, updated DX and still same issue. But I just got a cable for my video card (an old Radeon 3450 or something) and now using that instead of the onboard video RA works… so I guess it was to do with the inbuilt video. This was 1.2.2

Now to have a play and see if I can work out how to use it :wink:

Having the same issue. Here is the log:

Update: 1.2.2 seems to work after setting “menu_driver” to “glib”.

What do I need to get this working???

Try changing the menu_driver to rgui instead of xmb in your retroarch.cfg.

I did as you said and retroarch.exe starts and runs but i have no menu its just a black window, it has file, command, ect at the top, but no actual menu for adding cores and changing settings, ect. anyway here is my current log

It looks like you’re using d3d for the video driver. Have you tried using gl instead? video_driver = “gl”

I had problem starting the program, as it kept crashing when started. Then I changed in the cfg:

video_driver = “gl”

to

video_driver = “d3d”

This gave me a black screen, but the program started. So i went into the cfg again and changed:

menu_driver = “xmb”

to

menu_driver = “rgui”

Now it works… it’s not pretty but hey, it’s up and running… ^^

edit:

I run retroarch on an old laptop, on my “big” pc it runs without problem :smiley:
