RetroArch Freezes with certain USB Devices

When I insert certain USB devices to the hub on my PS Classic, odd things happen. The mounted storage can no longer be read, so resources fail to load, playlists show empty, and the system freezes with a red light on shutdown. This often corrupts my USB filesystem. So far it happens with a USB mouse and even a PS3 controller (charge cable). Is there a setting to fix this or is it a kernel bug (Project Eris for NTFS support)

I don’t know of any settings that would do such a thing, so I would assume it’s an OS/kernel issue.
