RetroArch Icons

How to install icon?

Ug so it looks like iOS does not apply the overlay to system apps… Ill have to vectorize my iOS 7 overlay in the next day or 2

HOW TO INSTALL THE ICON!!!

@Beban96 lol

In iOS, you should have be able to navigate into the app bundle and it should have an icon in there that you can replace. The process should be something like this: http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-200 … os-device/

However, we may switch to this one in a future release if you would rather wait for that.

Thank you!

Copy this icon and paste it in the retroarch folder and copy it again and this time rename it to “icon.png”

That icon isn’t vertically centered. It looks weird. Also, RetroArch changed its logo to the oblique view of the space invader to avoid complaints.

I love the ones by iurinery, but iOS 7 users who like uniformity might not. The ones by Holo don’t look rounded enough.

Personally I think the iOS 7 theme is a bit dull, but I made one anyway. Have been thinking of ways to make it more memorable. One thing that I love about RetroArch is its shaders, particularly the CRT ones. I’ll try to make an icon that has something of the old TV about it.

I like this one the best so far.

Some other colour options. I would still like to do something more with this, but gone are the days of skeuomorphism!

Can you make a grey one please. Gooby.

Sure, attached. The multicoloured one is pretty much what I was thinking of, a sort of TV test card but with the iOS 7 colours. Maybe it would look better toned down a bit, more like a real test card but I wouldn’t want to go overboard on the detail.

Your iOS 7 icon is pretty good, but to be honestly, I hate the iOS 7 flat style, I made the icons thinking in something more global, for all platforms.

Games don’t use flat icons, and since we play games in RetroArch, I think that the flat style is just weird for an App like that, but this is just my own opinion.

I like the TV test card idea, though you might want to add a black bar at the bottom to better differentiate it from a gay pride flag :stuck_out_tongue:

Doesnt it have to be 72x72 cause its not installing

You may need to restart your device.

I needed to restart the springboard of my device using Cydia to get the icon showing properly.

All i see is a blank icon After restarting.

In theory it should be 152 x 152 to avoid aliasing on the iPad with retina display. The ones I posted are 128 x 128 as they were intended as concept art rather than drop-in replacements, but there’s no harm in using them. If I post any more, I’ll use the bigger size.

Totally agree; OS integration is not a big deal when you’re talking about icons. Having said that, there are a lot of blogs about changing the Cydia icon an iOS 7 style. If you love your iPhone / iPad for its uniformity, why did you jailbreak it in the first place?

I like your icon, the one that is currently used in the iOS version. As I’ve said before though, if there’s anything missing it’s a hint at the availability of shaders. Difficult though, scanlines don’t scale for a start!
