RetroArch iOS release (v1.0.0.1)

RetroArch is on version 0.9.9.1 on Cydia. Didn’t expect a update so soon :D.

I have the same issue : I can’t sync a PS3 controller, though BTStack is activated and it works perfectly with SNES9X EX+ from Robert Broglia.

And I don’t know where to put my saves (not saved states, real saves), because they are in the same folder as the ROMs and they’re not seen by RetroArch cores.

EDIT - Nevermind the PS3 controller, it’s working now… I don’t know why.

Still don’t know why the saves are not read.

And it would be nice to have a BTStack turnon/turnoff when launching and quitting RetroArch

It is also now on the ZodTTD & MacCiti repo - which should be a default Cydia repo.

You’ll remember this repo because a few days ago a disgusting ripoff of RetroArch appeared on there with ads (not just banner ads but ‘video ads’ as well - everytime you loaded a ROM). So the official version being on there should create no incentive anymore for anybody to use that piece of crap.

To follow up from my last post, backgrounding works on iPad 4 as well.

OK, so meancoot’s latest patches took care of that then.

I’ve tried two different tools and both of them crash because I’m already jailbroken. Is the idea to remove my jailbreak and then rejailbreak?

There’s a solution to that. Use the iFile app to create a shortcut of your ROMs directory into the Documents folder.

They crash because you must be on windows vista or higher and are not running them in administrator mode.

I’m using Retroarch 0.9.9.1 on my iPad 4 Cellular with 6.1.2 jailbroken and I can not play Final Fantasy 7 with it :frowning: here is the video. Thanks.

We need the crash logs or we can’t help you. Use pastebin and give us the link on the fourms

Also does any other psx games run?

Hmm - that might be a good idea to get this release out without having to depend on a Cydia repo.

Does anybody have a HOWTO on how to make an IPA that will work on all jailbreak devices?[/quote]

Easy way to make an IPA.

  1. Unpack deb
  2. Drag&Drop YourAppFolder.app (RetroArch.app) to iTunes - Programms
  3. Sync your device with iTunes (IPA directory in Windows c:\Users%USERNAME%\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications\YourIPA.ipa) Enjoy! Greetings from 4pda.ru forum!

Oh I got it work quite well, but on the beginning it said that no BIOS found, bug blah blah blah… does it matter?

P/S: the solution for last problem is creating a folder inside Documents named .RetroArch and put Bios file there.

@fisenko Ah, that’s simple enough. Thanks for the info!

@tdt1110 Using the HLE BIOS is buggy, just as the warning says. It’s much better to use an actual BIOS file, as many games will be unplayable with HLE.

Here’s an idea: When loading a multi-disc game, ask which disc to select on startup.

Could you please say more in detail? I put file schp1001.bin under .RetroArch folder.

@tdt1110 Oh, you meant that you put the bios in there and it still says it’s using the HLE BIOS instead?

If so, you can try putting the BIOS image in with the game’s disc image. Also, make sure that the permissions on the BIOS file are not set to something inaccessible to the program, such as root-only.

As a fix for the bios confusion I am going to add support for listing bios files in a core’s info file and making it possible to see if the file exists and where it should be placed from the UI. Maybe even an option to quickly copy it from another location on the filesystem for JB users.

I’m on a Mac. I tried multiple versions of Absinthe and Redsn0w, but no luck. I’m just about to give up. I tried restoring to 5.0.1 or 5.1.1 with my 5.0 iPhone, but it won’t let me because I don’t have shsh blobs for 5.0…

So, I think I’m sol.

Sorry, i dont understand “putting the Bios image in with the game’s disc image” the game Bin file i out in Documents and bios in .RetroArch. Please help. I set permission bios file to write, read, blah for all user. Is that right?

Those permissions should be fine, I think.

I mean try putting the BIOS in the same directory as the game you’re trying to play. For example, if you have a directory with game.iso/bin/whatever in it, put your sph*.bin in there, too, and see if that works.
