As a fix for the bios confusion I am going to add support for listing bios files in a core’s info file and making it possible to see if the file exists and where it should be placed from the UI. Maybe even an option to quickly copy it from another location on the filesystem for JB users.
I’ve tried two different tools and both of them crash because I’m already jailbroken. Is the idea to remove my jailbreak and then rejailbreak?
They crash because you must be on windows vista or higher and are not running them in administrator mode.
I’m on a Mac. I tried multiple versions of Absinthe and Redsn0w, but no luck. I’m just about to give up. I tried restoring to 5.0.1 or 5.1.1 with my 5.0 iPhone, but it won’t let me because I don’t have shsh blobs for 5.0…
So, I think I’m sol.
Sorry, i dont understand “putting the Bios image in with the game’s disc image” the game Bin file i out in Documents and bios in .RetroArch. Please help. I set permission bios file to write, read, blah for all user. Is that right?
Those permissions should be fine, I think.
I mean try putting the BIOS in the same directory as the game you’re trying to play. For example, if you have a directory with game.iso/bin/whatever in it, put your sph*.bin in there, too, and see if that works.
Ah. I have sph*.bin in the same directory with game BIN file. Nothing changes

That’s because sph is naming it wrong.
It’s scph*.bin.
Please read the manual - it’s all explained in there. Or look at one of iDeviceMovies’ videos on Youtube where he explains how to set up RetroArch iOS and a whole lot of other things.
@squarepusher
You said the was a new version of absinthe where the fixed the emulator issue, but I have used version 2.0.4 to jailbreak my iPad 2 iOS 5.1.1. Is there a newer version?
Just got the emulator (finally! ) from cydia, and been playing around with it for about half an hour, so far, only problems i’ve got:
-Memory card doesn’t work? Tried saving on Crash Team Racing, and then booted to the Bios. Memory card was empty. -Crash Team Racing takes a lot of time to boot up, but works flawlessly (well, other than the MC issue) -ZERO analog support? Retroarch itlseft seems to support analog sticks (dual shock), but the games behave as if it’s one of the first controllers
any heads up?
No, DarkBanHammer said that. Talk to him - he might be inclined to know.
Both my iPad 2 and iPad Mini are on iOS 6.1.2 (evasi0n). You should have just updated to 6.1.2 and done the evasi0n jailbreak when you got the chance, really.
Most Overlays do not support full analog i guess. Try to use the Low-resolution/opium_5b.cfg or the opium_5.cfg These ones work as full analog.
Beem playing Tekken 3 with that just fine. But a PS3 Controller is still the best option.

Oh. Thank u. I did it. ^^
RetroArch(DeSmuMe) doesn’t work. Does retroarah not intend to support ios5?
just installed on my jailbroken iphone 4 6.1.2
unfortunately, every rom i load crashes the emulator. i’ve changed permissions to 777 on everything too, and same result.
any suggestions?
I would like to thank the developers for this amazing multiplatform emulator. And ask some questions. Is there any way to prevent retroarch from closing game, when i switch to another application, for example browser to read faqs or to cheat engine such as igameguardian. In wip versions i could do it no problem, but in official release emu just closes the game,so a cannot cheat or do some other things on my phone.

I don’t think i’m using an overlay, i’m using a PS3 controller
Also, anyone knows if retroarch supports multiple ps3 controllers (player 1 and player 2)? And any feedback about the memory card issue?
edit: even using that overlay, can’t get analog to work.
Edit2: I also can’t get Desmune to work AT ALL, it boots the game, sure (example: Elite beat agents), but as soon as i get a “press screen to start”… well, i can’t press the screen, no input at all (retroarch’s menu works fine, but desmune is a no go)
All in all, and considering it’s one of the first IOS versions, this emulator is the best i’ve seen in ages!

To use the analog just configure the Analog (AX) on the Up - Down - Left - Right Keys. Retroarch lets you use both the DPAD and the Analog but you need to configure it.
Wow the desmume version is performing much better than nds4ios and it has sound too! The only thing (major) is that there is no touchsupport yet!
When the touchsupport will be implemented it will really stand up!
Any good or dedicated button overlay for nds?
Desmume does have touch screen support, just not enabled by default. You need to go into RGUI core options and change the pointer mode from ‘relative’ to ‘absolute’.

Yeah, you can use it, it’s still not supported tho (you’re just assigning the LAnalog to the Dpad). You’re still royally screwed regarding analog-only games (i.e.: Ape Escape)
Regarding Desmune touch controls… Rgui did it It runs laggy as hell, but once again, oh so good for a first version on an ipad
The ‘lagginess’ you speak of is just a bad framerate. Next version should have toggleable frameskip.
Meancoot might know more about whether or not the performance is likely to go up since he has been doing all of the work on the Desmume port.
Anyway, system specs are quite ‘high’ on PC as well even with the x86 JIT. I think you should be glad it is running this well at all since it could have been running much worse.
