RetroArch iOS release (v1.0.0.1)

Quite weird. Instead of respringing, try rebooting thr device (i once got bluetooth crashing on me, even IOS’s settings would show it as “unavailable”)

How do I use analog sticks? I’ve been trying lots of input overlays but none of them have the analog sticks.

I’m trying to play Ape Escape and I absolutely need the analog sticks for it to play.

Any plans to update the fba core to a more recent version?

If I may add my 2 bob, I have a jailbroken iPhone 4S and had no permissions issues to overcome. I suspect another tweak or the user may have changed permissions without knowing it, could be just the roms with incorrect permissions before they are added to the Documents directory. Hope that helps.

On a lighter note I got metal slug one working on the arcade core after trying a number of roms and neogeo bios’.

Love this app!

Err, FBA core is based on the bleeding edge SVN repo (which is nonpublic).

It is as recent as it gets and more recent in fact than the official mainline version, so I dont quite understand your request.

no go (yet) mate.

Iphone 4S - 6.01 Evasion untethered Jailbreak Crash on ROMs loading, used ifile to set permissions to mobile/mobile all folder and files, all scph****.bin bios files, still crash What’s the point of releasing this if it’s incomplete … Thanks for your hard works anyways

Don’t blame your installation issues on us. RetroArch iOS works just fine for the vast majority of people.

Sounds like a regular PEBKAC issue to me…

Just wanted to let the developers know they did an awesome job on this port! I’ve been able to play every GBA, GBC and PSX game I’ve tested flawlessly on my iPad 2; I’m really enjoying the customizability and the fast forward function. I’ve been testing some NDS games also. Most are slow, but surprisingly really close (borderline playable). Fire Emblem (DS) works perfectly (very playable) (except audio and touch) which is awesome. Looking forward to N64 and future updates!

Can I transfer epsxe memcard onto retroarch pcsx rearmed and how ? where’s the mem card folder

Yeah, you can. Create a save file in the game in retroarch first. Then SSH into your idevice and navigate to ‘.Retroarch’ in the documents directory (it’s a hidden folder). Then replace the file of the save you created with you’re desired save. However, you have to retain the original save file name (the one you created in retroarch) including the extension (change whatever it is to a .srm); so just copy and paste that. That’s how I did it anyway…

I was just wondering if this should work on a 3gs running a ios6 jailbreak, I’ve been trying to get it to work for a bit now, but it crashes whenever I try to load a rom. I’ve changed the file permissions on each rom, but it continues to crash. I’ve tried all three NES cores as well as the DS core, but nothing seems to work :frowning:

Ahhh bummer. That game was the only reason i got this app. Oh well, i recognize it’s a pretty good app for even being able to run the game at full speed.

Sorry, I may not understand the different version numbers correctly then (there are soooo many). I just thought that the higher the number the newer the version…but I could be totally wrong based on the situation. I was told in a previous post (page 9 I believe) that this core is based on v2.96.28 and as an example the iFBA app is v0.2.97.23 (as my inexperience shows I am not even sure if the 0 means anything…could be an older version). There are still some roms that I can get to play on iFBA and not retro arch, like daioh, PAC man and a few others. I am perfectly happy keeping both but retro arch has far superior customizability. Love it!

On a side note, are there plans to add more MAME (arcade) cores? Mk3 would be sweet with a Bluetooth controller on my 52"

I really like the dev involvement…makes the app that much better. Thanks again guys!

You’re obviously way behind on FBA version numbers - version 0.2.97.28 is the most recent version.

The reason you can get certain ROMs to work on iFBA (0.2.97.23) that you can’t get to run on FBA libretro is because those ROMs are outdated because FBA syncs its romset with MAME. So you just need to keep up with updating those cores.

MAME 0.78 is all ready to go but I’m kinda worried about running Mortal Kombat 3 on an iOS device to be honest (or a PS3 for that matter). It might be only playable on Apple A6 CPUs or something like that - ah well, we’ll find out soon enough I guess.

Hi guys, thanks for the awesome emulator. I have one problem though, whenever I try to open a PS1 game in the PSX ReARMed or Mednafen PSX core, my iPad 4 on iOS 6.0.1 crashes and restarts. Just wondering if this is a bug that always occurs on the iPad or if there’s something I’m doing wrong. Thanks again!

You are able to connect a SIXAXIS Dualshock 3 PS3 controller which has joysticks, I don’t know if they can be used to control a game, but if you have the controller it’s worth a shot.

Aww that sucks. Thanks for letting me know though, cos I was gonna buy one and try it out.

I tested the MAME 2003 (MAME 0.78) core today on my iPad 2/iPad Mini and performance is pretty much what I had anticipated -

remember that Mortal Kombat games ran at 53 frames per second. So, based on that , the performance figures I’m getting is (frameskip 0) -

Mortal Kombat - 53/53fps - fullspeed Mortal Kombat 2 - 37/38fps out of 53fps Mortal Kombat 3 - 36/37fps out of 53fps - more or less same as MK2

It’s the sound hardware in MK2/Mk3 that makes MK2/MK3 a lot slower than MK1.

Anyway, I might have to reimplement frameskipping for MAME 2003 (0.78) - I was hoping we could reach frameskip 0 fullspeed with an old MAME core on Apple A5x - but guess not.

If the Apple A6x can perform at least 16fps faster on these games, then Mortal Kombat 2/3 could run at fullspeed on an Apple A6X at least.
