Retroarch Keyboard escape exits to Internal UI

I’m running Retroarch 1.5.0 on a LibreELEC x64 Community Edition Build.

I normally control it with a Logitech F710 and have enable hotkeys so I can exit out of a mame game and retroarch via LogitechBtn+Start.

But, I now find if I use the keyboard Escape key it takes me out of the game, but not all the way out of Retroarch and it displays the Retroarch Internal UI (or minimenu front end) where I can select another game. The only way I can get out of the minimenu is via the controller hotkey combo.

Is there a config that should allow hotkeys enabled on the controller, and a simple Escape on the keyboard to take you out of the emulator back to EmulationStation?

The Enable Hotkeys binding and/or Game focus toggle was made for this.
