Is there a way to know approximaly when a new stable version of mame like mame2017 (Not the GIT) will be decided ? Is it generaly at the end of a year or later? I just would like to know this in order to pick the right version of a romset before it dissapear and replaced by the new one ? Thanks Regards
Particular year versions are kept for a reason, like old ones which are faster for slow machines like raspberry pi or consoles.
The one named simply MAME without a year is the last stable version.
You can see here when it’s updated (the commit “version bump” shows the change to 0.191).
Ok thanks i ever use the current version but I would prefer stay on a mame version witch stay on a particular year I will wait for the next. Thanks

All you have to do is not update the most uptodate Mame core, it will never auto update. If you download the newest 0.191 core, you can use it for however long you want, just don’t update it.
