RetroArch not loading Menu Driver nor Content

So, I’m rather new to RetroArch, and the people who introduced me to it weren’t able to help me figure this problem out. I’m running on Windows 10 64bit, and when I first tried installing RetroArch, the config file would always only be one line, and the program would just crash and close immediately. A friend then proceeded to send me his Config file, and now it’s seemingly working fine…

Except it’s nothing but a black background with yellow text that’s poorly alligned–both in and out of fullscreen–and none of the Menu Drivers change the appearance at all. And whenever I try to load any games with the cores I do have downloaded/installed, the content fails to load. Any chance I could get some help with this issue?

How did you install it? because it sounds like it’s missing a lot of stuff.

go to buildbot.libretro.com and download the 1.7.0 release, either the zip package: https://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.7.0/windows/x86_64/RetroArch.7z or the installer package: https://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.7.0/windows/x86_64/RetroArch-1.7.0-x64-setup.exe

You’ll also need to download and install directx 9.0c from MS using the web installer: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

I tried using the installer a few times, and the zip package a few times as well. Both seemed to muck up for me. I did just try the 1.7.0 release that you just linked, since that’s a different version than what I had, but I’m still getting trouble with the content loading and menu driver.

I also already had Directx 9.0c installed for this.

Okay, we’re going to need logs and descriptions of the errors and problems you’re having. Using your friend’s config file isn’t a good idea at this point, since we have no way of knowing which option is getting you past the initial crash and/or what could be causing your other problems.

Also, what kind of GPU do you have and is your vendor’s driver installed (that is, rather than using the generic GDI driver that ships with Windows)?
