RetroArch Wii/Gamecube Releases (v1.0.0.2)

I probably should be more respectful, but you should also take your own advice. You were nagging for new info about a potential update just three hours after an update was given. It’s fine that you don’t know the precise issues currently facing RA devs. It’s less fine that you wanted an update on what they’ve done in the last 180 minutes.

Charco: Indeed, that’s what makes it the worst kind of bug. I’ve only experienced it a few times in my entire use of RA Wii. If it was a more common problem, it’d be easier to track.

As i said in the post before i want an update of new builds coming or that came in the past because this is my first post after several months and several months is not equal to 3 hours. So I think you have to be more respectful because I asked a legit question. For example in other posts i read the retroarch is arrived at 0.9.9.4 version that is coming , i remained , I think , at version 9.9.fix-1 so it is legit to think that I miss some updates. Is it clear now ? Anyway Respect other people is a MUST in the life of every day and I think have to be so also on the internet.

PS: Never mind , my Wii is broken so you can also don’t ask my question…

Has there been any progress on MAME for this on the wii?

I am seriously considering turning my wii into an arcade board, if MAME works and in particular can run Mortal Kombat.

I think this is the final say so until eke-eke, anyone else, or the devs themselves can help/figure out this bug.

Oddly enough, I never noticed any controller issues at all with the latest release. Huh…wonder why I never noticed.

Ya’know, I’ve been thinking the same thing. I played a lot of games on .9.8.all and noticed the problem an appreciable amount of times. But I’ve played even more on .9.9 and I don’t think I’ve noticed it much at all. Shrug. Maybe I’ll mess around with the controller options.

hello, hello  i like retroarch for wii-thank you!! now i wanted to tell that “Ring of Destruction-Slam Masters 2” on the Capcom CPS 2 board is running on wii…but you can only press start and move the charakter…but the buttons for example to punch or kick…doesn´t response…so you can´t fight because the charactar can not hit…i tried it with the gamecube controller, wii remote, nunchuk and classic controller…it woud be great if you can repair it  p.s.sorry for my bad english

Oh, i´ve got a question too  is it possible to put scanlines-effect into retroarch for wii?? it would be fantastic for gaming on a lcd tv

I would be interested in trying to help with the controls issue. Is there a semi-reliable way to reproduce the issue (roms, etc. where it occurs more frequently)? Or is it completely random?

Thanks,

JTip

@jtipp3tt I believe the unreliability is exactly the issue. If you can nail down anything reliable and reproducible, we can try to see what’s going on.

hi, the problem is always the same and only with this game “ring of destruction-slam masters 2”…i played lots of other CPS 2 games and i never had this problem before!

Yeah that one was reported here: http://forum.themaister.net/viewtopic.php?pid=6851#p6851

Looks like it has been fixed and will be fine in the next release.

oh yes, you´re right charco, thanks  i hope they will fix this bug in the next release

Getting back to the spurious controls issue, I seem to be able to get controls to “stick” more reliably when a core is running at below full speed. This generally means the VBA Next core for me, but Mednafen VB would probably also be a good testbed. It might also help to turn on the rewind feature to force it to struggle even more. Tapping the controls quickly will fairly frequently result in “sticking”; I can get it to occur in VBA Next with Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team within a couple of minutes at the longest. I just tap the d-pad and eventually I’ll take off running.

This is probably a separate issue to purely spurious controls–where the game acts as if you pushed a button which you never pushed at all–but it’s not ideal either. If we’re really lucky, they might be related.

I just wanted to say, thanks for this awesome emulator for my Wii! I use it all the time for CPS1 and CPS2 emulation and haven’t really seen any of the controller issues on the Wii port, but the Android port is full of serious controller issues so it probably exists on it but I haven’t encountered it myself as of yet.

hey people… thank u for this version of retroarch! I have a little question… where i put the bios of neogeo? in the same path of roms? or in system path? i get dsi error on mslug.zip

Gxgeo roms won’t work. Use Final Burn Alpha roms that match the version number on the bottom of the screen when using the fba_cores_neo.dol. Place neogeo.zip in the same folder as your roms.

I’d like to help out in debugging the controller issues.

Tonight I noticed that it happened while playing in the mednafen_fce_fast core. From what I can tell, it feels like the input “locks” for a very small period of time, and then I regain control. It’s definitely less than 1/2 a second. Happened 2 times that I could be sure of, in about 20-30 minutes of play. I’ve also encountered it while using the snes9x core, and feels like the exact same issue.

I pretty much always play using a Classic Controller, so tonight I tried playing with just a Wii-mote, on the same pce game I had been playing before. Played for about the same amount of time, and didn’t notice any issues. Though, playing with the wii-mote d-pad causes lots of issues on it’s own, so maybe it was hard to tell. It would be nice to hear from others who have this issue, and what kind of controller they are primarily using.

I also had a thought, since it seems to happen very rarely (and maybe only with a classic controller?), could it have something to do with the Wii-motes trying to go to sleep after a timeout?

Hope this issue gets resolved.
