RetroArch Xbox1

Ok, I might get lynched here, but here I go…:

I try to install Retroarch on my modded xbox but when I lanch it, it freeze on a black screen (I can see on the upper left corner the end of the words “Core”, “System”…) I can’t seem to understand quite clearly what file I need to download. The links in the RetroArch release threads are down (or is it just me?) Can anybody tell me where I can download the files? Thanks!

If you want to redownload RetroArch, you can try here: http://www.xbins.org/

The packages should include all the cores so you should be fine with that. You may need to obtain BIOS files though if you’re trying to emulate, say, Mega CD. As for your issue, I don’t know. My Xbox broke down some months ago so I can’t test it.

Well thank you for your quick response. I’ll try with a newer version maybe, and see if it work

I tried with a newer version. This time, i can navigate trough the menu, but I can’t really see what I’m doing. The text are still in the top left corner, I can only see the end of the word…

Is this with the Xbox 1 version? Are you using 480i/480p/576i/576p mode or are you using 720p/1080i? I haven’t tested the HD resolutions at all so I can’t vouch if they work or not (neither am I able to test them for the record).

Freakdave would have to take a look at that.

Im new to Retroarch but I can confirm that on the Xbox 1 version of retroarch is unusable due to the menus not being visible the menu is squashed up in the top left hand corner of the screen and you cannot see what is going on when you attempt to navigate the menu.

I am running the newest version of Retroarch v0.9.8.4. My TV is connected via SCART so it’s not running in HD resolutions.

That version (0.9.8.4) is totally obsolete anyway compared to what is coming up. RetroArch 0.9.9 is close to a total rewrite and I’m pretty sure whatever problems you had won’t affect you anymore in 0.9.9. So just wait a little while longer - shouldn’t be long now.

Also, the new menu image is catered towards 480i/480p - I am not going to do any ‘HD menu image’ stuff because all of that eats RAM and on the Xbox 1 we have too little RAM as-is. The only route here is to go totally spartan - and a menu image is just a menu image after all - it’s a means to an end to select a ROM or change some setting.
