ROM not loading in PCSX-reARMed

Hey Everyone,

So, I’m having trouble loading up a .bin for Final Fantasy IX Disc 1 on a Kindle Fire HD running the version 0.9.9.6 of Retroarch.

The ROM is a .bin file, and whenever I try to load it up, I just get a black screen, except for the onscreen controls that I have. I’ve tried redownloading and extracting the same ROM, and downloading a couple of entirely different ROMs for Final Fantasy IX, but to no avail. Each Final Fantasy ROM I’ve tried has been a .bin file, though. I haven’t come across a .iso for this game yet.

I’ve also tried different copies of the same bios, as well as different bios files (scph1001, scph7502, etc…).

Final Fantasy VII loads up just fine and runs like a champ, but I haven’t tried any other PSX games just yet.

I’ve done a little bit of internet searching for an answer, but most of the similar issues pertain to people already at a certain point of the game and not being able to proceed due to a black screen.

Is there anything big I’m missing for troubleshooting steps? Or, are there any other pieces of information I can provide that’ll help hint at a possible solution?

Thanks

Do you have a cue file to go along with the bin? I load up the cue file when I load that game and it works fine. Not sure that really matters though, it is just what I have always done. I am not playing on a kindle fire but if it is something as simple you could easily try it.

Edit - I tried loading the bin and it worked. I guess I am of no use :frowning:

On one of the files that I downloaded, after I extracted it, there was a .cue file listed along with the .bin. Either way, I’m going to try giving it a shot next time I’m able to get on my home computer on put the file onto my Kindle. Thanks for the suggestion, I hope it works!

Quick update!

So, just putting the <1kB .cue file in the same folder as the .bin allowed the game to load on my Kindle Fire HD. After both files were the in same folder, the game could be successfully launched from either file. So, success!

Thanks again for the help!
