Saving overlay problem

Ihave a new problem I am trying to set up Sega Genesis and Atari lynx with screen overlays on each I configure Sega Genesis and the overlay I save it then I go to work on Atari Lynx I confugure that overlay when I go back to Sega Genesis the overlay for Atari is there . I go to fix that and it reverses what I’ve done. Now the overlay for Sega Genesis is There for Atari What am I doing wrong?..

You are using the same core for those systems. The overlay image only saves on a per core or per game basis.

You can use the scripts in this post i made to batch a load of game override files off you rom folders

Or you can make split cores but thats beyond my skills.

Or use an external launcher to apply the changes

Or you could setup a overlay next hotkey and use my example for GBC to cycle through your overlays. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AaETzF_46tI

Check the video descriptions.

Someone may be adding some new functions to the override system to fix the issue you have

I am not using the same core lynx uses handy and genesis has a genesis core. I am definitely loading in a different core for each. But isn’t there a switch or setting. For. Save setting to This core only…when you save…meaning I click save on the lynx core and the changes are saved only to the lynx core . When I bring up another core and save the changes are made to that other core?

Oops sorry

To sort it ceanly i guess you should load retroarch with no core

Go and turn the enable overlay to off Then configurations save current

Now when you load up a game for the 1st system go back and set the relevent overlay

Then go to quick menu and save core override

Repeat this for you other systems but skip the 1st step

I knew there was a setting somewhere in retroarch that is save core overrides and it did not occur to me. every time I was bringing up a core and I fix the overlay I was going to configuration save current configuration or save new configuration I hope that solves the problem

Yeah should do.

Save current saves all your settings to retroarch.cfg and is loaded by default for everything you do. Any overrides you have save will go into the directory set for configs in Settings->directories

Save new will save a copy of the retroarch.cfg with the changes you have made. Used by some launchers and for back but not really used by retroarch automatically

We’ll break out the rosary say a few prayers and when I get home I’ll give it a try

Success! It is now working the way it should. Quick question where is the setting to Hide the Mouse cursor?
