SEGA CD - RetroArch 1.7.0 and 1.6.9 do not play game songs

Hi guys.

Songs are not played by the Genesis Plus GX core or by the PicoDrive core. Sound effects work correctly on both cores.

For my tests, I used the BIOS of the TOSEC project (2012-04-23).

I tested all my Sega CD files with the clrmamepro using the DAT project Redump (Sega - Mega-CD - Sega CD - Datfile (335) (2017-12-15 22-42-36)), there are no errors with the files, there are no incomplete files.

When I use the same files with Kega Fusion 3.64, the sound plays correctly.

I use the onboard audio from the Asus Crosshair VI Hero motherboard.

What could be the problem?

Are the audio tracks of your games in MP3 format? If so, that will not work. The audio tracks need to be in a raw BIN format. The only imaging software I know of that will convert your MP3 tracks to BIN is Nero Burning Rom.

All my files are like the sample image, the games are composed of bin and cue files.

Hmm, perhaps the cue sheet isn’t in correct format. I’ve had trouble with Sega CD games before. Try downloading the Sega Cue Maker and see if it helps. After you open the software simply choose the directory where your game BIN files are and click ‘Generate CUE’. This software has fixed a lot of CUE sheet issues for me.

When I went to check the cue file as you suggested I realized that the problem is that I am running the compressed file games (zip format). When I run the zip file through RetroArch, RetroArch extracts only the first file:

When I extract the contents of the zip file and run the cue file directly, the music work correctly.
