Serious audio/video desync in Stella core

I’m experiencing some severe audio/video desync when running Atari 2600 games using the Stella core. Basically, the sound will lag further and further behind the gameplay the longer I play. This issue doesn’t occur in any other cores, as far as I can tell, and none of the available audio/video settings seem to make any difference.

The weird thing is that the speed at which they desync changes depending on which game I’m playing; for example, Pitfall II takes a few minutes to noticeably start desyncing, whereas Desert Falcon starts desyncing within the first few seconds of gameplay.

I’m running the latest 64-bit version (1.0.0.2) in Windows 7.

It appears Ataris were unusual in that their video timing is controlled by software. Perhaps the core is reporting a nominal timing that actually varies slightly from game to game?

Have you tried it in the MESS core (I think it’s included in lordashram’s nightlies posted in the ‘development’ subforum) to see if it behaves similarly?
