Settings to Enable/Disable For G-Sync 165Hz monitor?

I have an Asus ROG Swift PG279Q monitor and want to know what options i need to enable or disable to get the benefits of g-sync and 165hz technology for RetroArch?. I understand i need to disable v sync and i thought i needed to enable black Frame Insertion, but when i enable that the screen flickers very fast. I have also noticed that Retroarch reports the screen refresh is only approx 59 hz, i set it to 165hz in the retroarch config file, which when i load retroarch it display 165hz but as soon as i load a game it reverts back to 59hz

Turn off vsync, make sure audio sync is on. You can try messing with the video_swap_interval value set in your cfg but i think it usually works with vsync, so it may not do anything at all with vsync disabled. It’s not going to run at 165 hz because that’s not an even multiple of the console’s native framerate.

These are all of the threads with info on using gsync with RetroArch:

Hey hunterk, regarding the G-Sync issues, do you think requesting hardware from nVidia will help the solution? I know they don’t technically make the monitors themselves, but since they’ve given you some of that Android hardware before, you think requesting them sending you a compatible nVidia card and a random G-Sync monitor is a possibility?

We don’t really ask. We get offers from time to time and that’s about it.
