I haven’t used overlays much but it would be nice if the various control inputs could be shown on screen using existing overlays. It’s not of that much importance to me, but for speedrunners. streamers, and the like it might be useful.

I’d love to see Overlays extended to display controller input. I recently posted this as a request on RetroArch’s github - I don’t have the programming knowledge to develop the feature myself, but I’d be more than happy to place a bounty on this feature. https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/5214
