Slowdowns on Intel NUC but Retroarch still shows 60 fps

I’m using Retroarch on an Intel NUC and yesterday while playing SNES Aladin (Snes9x core), I noticed a lot of slowdowns, but :

  • sound continues playing fine
  • Retroarch keeps displaying a solid “60 fps”.
  • If I open RA’s menu when a slowdown is happening, the menu is slowed down too.

What is going on there ? Is there some kind of CPU throttling happening because of the heat in the NUC ? Retroarch is playing on Linux in KMS mode.

I also tested the same game and core on my main computer and I don"t get slowdowns, so it’s not SNES slowdowns.
