So...how does this work again?

Its been a while since I last installed RetroArch on one of my devices, so i’ve kinda forgot how to go about it.

I have an iPad Air 2 on iOS 8.4

Can someone walk me through the steps (from the very beginning)? I remember there being some sort of PSX ‘fix’ for A7 devices, are there any issues with A8X?

Im wanting to use the PSX emulator (dont care for the others)

I believe that A7/A8X issue was only for jailbroken devices if you want to use the PSX core with dynamic recompilation.

An iPad AIr 2 should run the PSX interpreter core (does not require jailbreak) just fine.

If you’re jailbroken, install RetroArch via Cydia and:

  1. Go to Online Updater
  2. Choose Core Updater
  3. Choose Update Core Info Files
  4. Choose Update Assets
  5. Choose Update Overlays
  6. Update anything else you want (cheats, etc) but those are optional
  7. You should have a core called Playstation (PCSX ReARMed) [Interpreter]
  8. Use that core when loading PSX disk images

If you’re not jailbroken, you need to manually build the app in Xcode 7, or install it by some other means (re-signing), and download and codesign the cores yourself, and follow steps 3-8.

I assume you’re jailbroken though
