SOLVED: Xbox 360 Wireless Controller Not Working

Hello,

So I’m running 1.0.0.2 64-bit on Windows 7 SP1 with a Xbox 360 wireless controller installed. I’m going to state this now: I’ve never had a problem with this controller in any other game (such as windows live games through steam, etc). Also the batteries are fully charged.

Now, I’ve managed to get several roms working, however, I cannot get the controller to work in the games or in retroarch at all. The retroarch-joyconfig exe states:

“Found joypad driver: dinput Using joypad: Controller <Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows>” and I am able to run through the calibration with all button presses registering. Good!

However, when I run the retroarch.exe itself the console window states:

“RetroArch [ERROR] :: Failed to load XInput, ensure DirectX and controller drivers are up to date.”

For the hell of it I checked device manager [okay], and dxdiag [also okay].

Inside RetroArch the settings are:

Driver Options > Input Driver = dinput Settings > Input Options > Device = Controller (Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows) Settings > Input Options > Device Type = Joypad

I’ve tried to give you as many details as I can think of but please let me know if you want me to go through any troubleshooting steps.

Please help me!

Hi guys, just thought I’d post an update. It seems my problem was with the 64-bit version of retroarch.

Instead I decided to download and run the 32-bit version, which worked beautifully with at least two xbox 360 wireless controllers.

Thanks to anyone who racked their minds for me over this!

Weird. Thanks for posting your solution. That seems like something we should look into.
