Spectrum Emulation

I’m just getting into Spectrum emulation and running Fuse within Lakka. Got a few questions which I hope you can help with.

  1. Are DSK files generally better than TZX? Better as in graphics/sound, etc. Are +3 games better than 128K?
  2. How do I load the 2 tape? (when prompted). Does the TAP format or other file type get around this?
  3. Under Core settings, it has “Model (needs content load)”. Does this mean that all games should be loaded from the “Load Content” screen rather than a playlist?
  4. Will setting Core Model to 128K load 48K games or does this setting need to be changed for each game?

  1. No they’ll just load faster
  2. Never checked, usually only 1 tzx/tap
  3. Playlist is what it finds from database, load content is you pick a certain game file
  4. Sometimes 48k games won’t load in 128k mode. They’ll crash after some loading

Thanks for your reply. I’ll stick with DSK files then and use TZX when they are not available. I’ve got quite a few arcade ports which are double tapes. I’ll keep playing around with this setting and see what works best. Have noticed a few crash. Shame the games can’t be auto detected.
