Startx retroarch

Good day everyone!! I install on my old pc ubuntu desktop 16.04 only base system and ssh. I connect it to my TV thrught DVI->HDMI adapter. Then

apt-get install x-window-system
apt-get install xterm twm
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libretro/stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install retroarch libretro*

And when i try

sudo startx retroarch

it start BUT it smaller than screen. When in video settings i turn on “Use Fullscreen Mode”, it go to the black screen and thats all.
I try to setup with/height in cfg file (1920/1080) and video_fullscreen = “true”, that show black screen on startx retroarch too. Help me please.

I need minimal install with ubuntu and retroarch fullscreen launch autostart.

Would you be better off using KMS mode (if your graphics card supports it)?

Thannks. retroarch -features -> it support egl\kms; But it still black. I run sudo retroarch? then it show color dots and poof !! - black screen.

You never run with sudo dude. Try follow this: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/wiki/KMS-mode

Edit: don’t try load Cg shaders in KMS, you’ll get a black screen. Use GLSL shaders instead.
