Suggestion for Input options

I love Retroarch, it’s awesome. But one thing that bothers me, is that I have to keep a keyboard next to me at all times when I use it, in order to open the GUI (RGUI Menu Toggle).

My suggestion/idea, is to add the ability to use a combination of buttons as 1 thing. Meaning, setting something like RGUI menu toggle, to be Down+Start+Select(pressing all 3 at the same time). That way it could easily be opened with a controller, even if it doesn’t have enough buttons. Right now I mainly use a Buffalo Famicom USB controller I bought and it has JUST enough buttons for SNES games. No extra buttons for the GUI, so as said, I’m stuck having to keep the keyboard right next to me any time I want to switch games or something. It’s not a HUGE deal, but it is an inconvenience, especially considered the whole gui is designed to work with a controller in the first place.

You can do that already, not big combinations but you can bind a hotkey to be sort of a modifier… check the guide in my sig.

Wow awesome. Thanks. I feel like an idiot now, I shoulda been able to find that. I didn’t even realize there was a hotkey option. I think what it was, is that I wasn’t expecting it to be a separate option. I figured if it was there, it would just be something where you select the key and press the buttons.

But yeah, thanks. Now I have my rgui toggle set to Select+R. Although I still think being able to set bigger combinations could be useful, especially for controllers with less buttons.

Having Guide button as modifier, if I press “Guide + Start” to change shader my game also pauses… is this intended?

I opened an issue about this a while ago but noone chimed in https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/748

Well, that’s great you did, at least it’s already reported. We need developers around in the forums. Maister and Squarepusher barely come around.
