(Suggestion) xBRZ implenetation

Hi,

are xBRZ filters take into consideration for future development?

So far xBRZ (and xBR) are on par or “better” with xHQ filters.

You can already use xBR in shader form.

I am aware of xBR, I’m suggesting xBRZ.

xBRZ is a CPU filter, so it would have to be ported to RetroArch’s softfilter API. I don’t think Squarepusher is particularly interested in porting any other softfilters himself at this point, particularly when xBRZ is only slightly different in output from regular ol’ xBR, but if someone else wants to port it, I’m sure he’d accept a pull request.

Maybe Zenju would be willing? He seems to like to spread his invention (which is a good thing)… A collab perhaps?

PS: I am trying to get Zenju to check his xBRZ thread on another forum where he posted it, and to consider making .cg and .fx versions.

I wholeheartedly second xBRz be included. It does a better job than plain xBR.

The difference between the already included xBR and XBRz may be apparently slight, but compared to each other the difference is apparent. Open the two below links in different web browser tabs and then switch between the two tabs to see the difference

To me, we should be including the best filter; xBRz is it.

Those comparisons are very much outdated. Hyllian has done a lot of work on xBR since then and I believe it has surpassed xBRZ. Specifically, some recent changes to corner detection greatly improved the IQ.

Interesting, I’ll check it out again.

Super xBR surpassed xBRZ by far.
