TheNamec - Mega Bezel Packs Amiga, Commodore 64, VIC20, CRTgaming soon

Heya! I’m loving that AMIGA lamp! Also Silkwork was such a great precursor to S.W.IV (Silkworm IV).

You can control that via SHADER PARAMETERS, SCREEN BLACK EDGE section, BLACK EDGE THICKNESS. That was way bigger on real hardware!!!

Yup I did a test, then went on with my own implementation of Aperture Grille for soon to be released Sony Trinitrons. Probably at some point I will include a somewhat “blank” preset for people to freely reference other shaders, but for now is more of a hacky linking, also considering preset pathnames tend to change frequently.

Ha not an Amiga lamp at all. Just an ultrawide monitor coupled with the magic of big box marquees.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm this really gave me a couple ideas about rotated or even second screen marquees! Pretty interesting!

Hey also give a try to the Commodore displays NMC presets. These are equipped with a special Commodore-sque slot mask grid that feels pretty similar to original devices!

This is not Commodore related, but I think it’s a totally unexpected breakthru achievement.

Looks like @HyperspaceMadness Mega Bezel Reflection Shader will finally bring CRT delight to modern PC games. It’s something I could only dream about in the latest two years!

Here’s some Aeterna Noctis straight to my widescreen Ikegami

And here’s some Dead Cells with standard GDV

and DREZ downsampling to 240p for a more SNES-y feel

This was made possible by a new experimental “utility” core that brings windows capturing to Libretro. Link https://gitlab.com/johnsirett-public/libretro-wincapture

I’m literally speechless! Thanks John Sirett!

Sorry to interrupt https://pixelglass.org/#timegal Cute game recently ported to amiga, when I launch LHA either AGA ver or OCS I get this screen. Me brain zero.

Mmm this also happens to me with recent games released on LHA format, I think LHA need additional configuration while HDF are self-contained hard disk images and end up working out of the box like common roms.

Maybe @sonninnos can enlight us, I’m pretty sure P-UAE supports LHA.

Have you tried loading the ISO? P-UAE also supports that format.

That box appears when the LHA does not have a matching info+slave pair, so it does not know what to pick by default. It can also be summoned by holding down the fire button on boot. Just double click on that “Time Gal.info” or select it and press Ok.

Nothing to do with the media format, but the directory layout.

I just recently fixed it so that Giana Sisters SE from that same source can be launched in a similar fashion instead of it just throwing up some error messages…

I just needed to hit that Time Gal info… and it launched correctly…

Sonninnos to the rescue! Tnx

I don’t think I fully understood the examples and what’s WGC Window Capture for Libretro exactly about. I use ReShade (‘Axel-Television’ CRT) for modern games on Steam. Does this addon run games with Retroarch shaders or I misunderstood sth? I’m not the sharpest if you noticed  Any youtube vids on that? And ehm, TheNamec, that youtube channel of yours Sir, is kind of… dead (?) Busy man.

Correct, you choose the window to be captured from RetroArch and that will end up being processed by the whole shader powerhouse. That means Mega Bezel on modern pixelart games! It’s pretty recent and work in progress, I think there are no videos yet.

Heh, I’m planning for a comeback with new content, the channel was mainly used to show single Amiga models I was building.

In the meanwhile, I’ve become an avid follower for @SharkaBytes entertaining formats, lots of cool things here to learn both on Commodore gaming and digital storytelling! I’m pretty proud lots of their quality videos are showcasing my presets :cowboy_hat_face:

Aww, thank you, Namec! They’re always a joy to use with Commodore gaming and I’m happy to do my part in promoting your shaders and the MBZ project in general. I do the same on Twitter as well as there’s still a lot of misunderstanding about just how much CRT shader tech has leapt forward since its inception. Especially from a certain subset of the MiSTer fanbase who seemingly feel they’ve invented good shaders - a personal bugbear there.

But yeah, eagerly awaiting the next RC and/or the CRTGaming pack; if you need a guinea pig to try out an early release, feel free to hit me up.

Lakka/Retroarch for Raspberry Pi 4 - can this handle TheNamec shaders? Anyone has experience with this?

The presets use the Mega Bezel, which needs a beefy GPU. The Pi4 does not have one. :slightly_frowning_face:

@eightiesjapan

If you like, you could use @TheNamec’s overlays on the Pi 4, and use a shader that runs well on it.

e.g. from @TheNamec’s pack.

(Converted to JPG for posting on the forum.)

It would be a shame for this great work to reach less users simply because of hardware limitations.

Hey Duimon, thanks for this. Since I already have A500 mini I tested the legacy of Retroarch = Pandory500 with its zfast composite shader. It’s no way near TheNamec but… for what it is, it looks okey: https://youtu.be/KiNr7UuJkhA

How can I use these overlays with presets from another pack? For example I would like to use the C64 overlays from this pack with megabezel’s MBZ__0__SMOOTH-ADV preset?

Hello , Would it be possible to download all the Commodore Overlay monitors in PNG FORMAT? I use FS-UAE and if I can get a clean image from the monitor I can adjust it minimally and it works unfortunately it doesn’t exist for FS-UAE your images are beautiful especially from the black 1084S monitor if it is possible to get me to download in png format I appreciate it (it is for personal use only)
