Unable to change resolution for N64 with Mupen64Plus

Hello,

I am glad I can finally ask this. So, I have been trying to use Retroarch to play one game: Gauntlet on N64. All the other ROMs work fine in Project 64, but it does not like Gauntlet. So, I try Retroarch and it works! BUT, I want to play in 720p (my television’s resolution).

Every tutorial, be it a video or blog, says there is an option to change the resolution in the quick menu options. But there is no option for me. I start the game, press F1 to open the quick menu, click on [Options], and there is no option to change the resolution.

Note: There is no option for it in the core settings either (this was a solution for someone else facing a similar issue).

There ARE, however, resolution and scaling factor options in the GLideN64 submenu in [Quick Menu]->[Options]->[GLideN64]. But it does not have any effect (“No effect!” - Minsc)

I even updated the cores as well, to no avail. However, this did fix an issue with Parallel making the screen appear small and in the corner.

I got Gauntlet to work in a different core (Parallel), but it looked and sounded horrible: Missing textures, seeing through everything, messed up audio. It was running in HD though, but was unplayable.

So, my only option is Mupen64Plus. I know it SHOULD work, because that is what everyone says to use.

Sounds like you/it may be using the Angrylion RDP plugin, which is very accurate but is confined to native resolution (i.e., no upscaling). If you change the RDP plugin to GLideN64, you’ll need to close content and then reopen it for the change to take effect. Ditto for the resolution changes once GLideN64 is active.
