VTech CreatiVision setup / TroubleShooting in RA

Hi Everyone,

Im a bit of a noob at this so forgive any glaring errors i may have made.

Ive got Mame, Nes, Snes, Segas etc all setup and working in RL and Hyperspin no problems, now Im trying to setup the Vtech CreatiVision or as it was known in Australia (Dick Smith Wizard) and get the roms running with RA but im not having much luck.

Basically anytime i attempt to load a rom with trying various cores (I read Mame, Mess were the ones to try) and even launching through rocket launcher it just exits without loading and has no errors that i can see.

Ive got a Bios and the matching roms setup in a mapped rom directory, but my skills are pretty low and new with this so im a bit stumped on how to trouble shoot and solve the problem.

Ive had a good scan around but seems to be pretty hard to find much in regards to Vtech CreatiVision setups and trouble shooting.

If anyone has any suggestions on where to start and debug this i would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

For this to work you need to setup a folder structure similar to stand-alone MAME, thus system-folder/MAME/hash & system-folder/MAME/roms, where system-folder is where all RA’s bioses goes. in the hash folder all the mame hash file needs to go, and the roms need to go into the roms folder.

For CreatiVision you need to have crvision.zip (the bios) in the base rom dir, then underneath that you need a folder called crvision with the romcollection named according to the hash file. Then you create a cmd file with the following in it:

crvision tennis -rp /Games/retroarch/mame/roms/

just change the rp to point at your rom directory and everything should work like the stand alone.

If you don’t want to use the soft-list games you could run it like:

crvision -cart /Games/Romz/MESS/Software/crvision/rom_deepseaadventure6k.BIN -rp /Games/retroarch/mame/roms/

Awesome! cant thank you enough!

Managed to get it all setup and configured and running well in RA with your instructions and also Mame.

Thanks again seriously appreciated, you saved me countless days figuring this out I’m sure!
