Vulcan does not work on Ubuntu 18.04.3 with Flatpak / PPA

Vulcan does not work on Ubuntu 18.04.3 with Flatpak since version 1.7.8.

I change the driver, I close the program and it doesn’t open anymore.

Report the error here. GitHub

Updated: I installed the Stable PPA and Testing, Vulcan does not work on any.

auto-reply: Nvidia Fermi is no longer compatible with Vulkan ¬¬

Was it ever compatible?

Nvidia stops supporting Vulkan, the reason I don’t know. A Github user shared this.

Vulkan Driver Support

Foro vulkan fermi support

Yeah. That’s disappointing. Nothing you can do. It seems the open source driver (“Nouveau”) also doesn’t support Vulkan.

The “glcore” RetroArch driver is your best next choice here.

I currently use GL, which comes by default and works fine. What is the difference to this?

“gl” is for old GPUs or limited GPU drivers that don’t support modern opengl. “glcore” uses more modern opengl and also supports SLANG shaders, just like vulkan.

So basically, vulkan and glcore are the modern RA drivers. gl and gl1 are there for compatibility. I think Fermi GPUs with the official nvidia binary driver should be fully capable of supporting glcore.

Thanks RealNC
I am using glcore and it works pretty well, even Flycast runs better. :ok_hand:t3:
