I figured the overlays you’re using would cover up the one that comes with the shader.
The gameboy shader you were using automatically scales up to the largest whole integer scale, while the console-border ones let you choose a smaller scale.

I see, that makes sense. The only problem is that the border is still mostly visible. The difference between 4x and 5x is the difference between seeing the border, and missing part of the screen. It’s mostly an aesthetic annoyance.
Getting back to the original suggestion, can you use the 5x preset and drop the video scale option down to where the border is hidden and the screen is still visible? Conversely, you could replace the gameboy pocket image that the shader uses with a blank, fully transparent png image.
