What's wrong with the video filters?

I’ve been trying out the video filters in RetroArch, but to my surprise, they look really weird compared to what how the same filters look like in in other emulators. For example, the Super2xSai looks really bad in RetroArch (using FCEUmm core) compared to how the same filter looks like in Jnes: http://i.imgur.com/MzPDiMY.png I’ve had similar issues with the SuperEagle filter.

Why is this happening and how can I fix this?

Filters are specific to a pixel format I guess they just don’t work on that particular format. You should just use shaders instead.

Ok, so how can I apply a shader then? I was able to use the Online Updater to download shaders, but I can’t for the life of me find any other settings about shaders…

Hmmm load content, go back to the menu and there should be shader options. Shared menu is inside the “in-game” quick menu

Ooooh, now I found them. Thanks a lot! It is rather unintuitive though.
