I’ve installed Retroarch for Windows a couple of days ago and I’m having trouble finding the key responsible for exiting from the UI submenus. Every time I want to exit a submenu in the UI I have to click the upper left corner of the screen with the mouse, but this is distracting and feels weird.
I think you can exit from submenu with ‘z’ , i used it a long time ago but i m not sure becsuse now using a controller.
The default keyboard mapping is backspace. If you have “unified menu controls” enabled (or are using an old version), it’s ‘z’ as sm1996 mentioned.
Thanks people, I have no unified keys, so the backspace key did the trick.
Is there a user manual for the UI operation somewhere in this site?
See here in Navigating the GUI

Maybe this is for “unified menu controls”…
Thanks! Yes, the guide’s navigation keys are a little different but for the most part it helps. I keep the suggestion here to include a ‘non unified menu controls’ navigation keys in this guide for better assistance for 1st time users.
