Which phone retroarch runs best?

Hello there ! As retroarch wont run on my iphone 4 ios 5 and i may chose a new mobile phone cause my contract runs out I wanna chose the one which is best to play games on I dont want to have an iphone anymore so it will definitely be android based.

I know galaxy s4 is the one with best performance but i read about the display crashin for no reasons or just putting it in your trouser pocket. I am really sceptic about that.

What would be your choice and important: retroarch should run without problems . I think thats maybe my main restriction:D Comments would be nice ,

Thx

Next to the S4, the next contenders would probably be the Nexus 4 or the HTC One.

I have an HTC One and RetroArch performs well on it, but I haven’t had good luck with USB OTG in CM10.2 (dunno about the stock ROM), so if you’re planning on hooking USB pads/sticks to it, you might be better off with the S4.

I’d wait for the nexus 5 if you can. Will probably be out in a couple months and will probably be the best phone for gaming.

Well i will buy a new one next week and cant wait cause i need a nee one, my old phone is really …well it has a lot of issues … Lets say it like that  My mum has nexus 4 but i dont like it. Cant really tell why.

So i am stuck between s4 and htc one probably but i found so many reports of people having the s4 and their display crashes just because of loading, vibration or havin it in trouserpocket , that i am really scared to buy it. So atm i am onto htc one but what does this usb thing mean hunterk mentioned? Pls 4 dummies . I am german and trying to handle this here with my school english  thx so far guys

The Galaxy S4 is a good device if you use the Google Play Edition S4 ROM. With that ROM most of the performance problems with RetroArch finally went away. I can play fullspeed VBA Next with 64ms audio latency - I definitely don’t have to try that with the Samsung TouchWiz ROM or Cyanogenmod.

Remember to do this after you have bought it - I cannot stress enough how much of a difference this will make for performance vs. the Samsung TouchWiz ROM or Cyanogenmod. You might experience some more battery drain vs. the other ROMs though - but that might get fixed in a later updated ROM.

I haven’t ventured into flashing 4.3 onto my S4 yet, but 4.2.2 runs quite well for me. Just a minor bit of audio lag.

Isnt the htc one as good as s4? And does someone knows sth about this display crashes? I would buy s4 but as i read so much about this display crashes and samsung saying they’re not fixing it. Just with 200€ costs… So well. Dont know what to do

USB OTG is also known as ‘USB Host.’ It means that you can plug things into the phone’s microUSB port and it will recognize the device and try to use it just like if you plugged it into, for example, a desktop computer. It’s necessary for using USB gamepads (bluetooth gamepads are fine without it) and USB flash drives, etc.

As for the S4 display issue, is this what you’re talking about?

In the U.S., at least, S4 and HTC One have exactly the same chipset and only differ by a few megahertz, so it’s just a matter of which other features you prefer. I take a fair number of pictures with my phone, so I went for the One’s superior camera. OTOH, the S4 has an SD card slot (very helpful for emulation) and a user-replaceable (and uprgradeable) battery.

They’re both great phones and I’m sure you’ll be very pleased with either one.

Exactely !! Amoled display breaks ! With no influences at all. I am scared to buy the s4 and get that as well. I am fine with 32 gig ( have iphone 16gb and never was full) and the cam isnt so important for me .
