Why are all my PUAE Amiga games running in 768 x 512?

Hi everyone,

As per the title, all my Amiga 500 games just run in this 768 x 512 resolution no matter what core video settings I select, and frankly its driving me nuts! I just want them to run in all their original low res glory…

I am running a basic Sony CRT TV with retroarch and CRT Emudriver, all my other retro cores like Megadrive / Snes / Arcade etc are switching to the appropriate resolution as smooth as butter, its just PUAE that seems stuck in this higher res mode.

Any help with this deeply appreciated!

That is certainly not the default behavior in the core, and there is not even an option for 768 width, and 512 height is only possible with cropping enabled and if double line is forced or if running an interlaced PAL screen.

I don’t have CRT emu stuff, but clearly it is deciding to force something.

Yes, but the question I am hopeing someone with knowledge on PUAE can answer why is it being forced?

Because you need to change the option in “core options-video” not to double x and y resolution. I believe as most emus do, outputs the max resolution as default. Some as i also do, setup a “super” resolution like 2560x288 and that covers high res/low res without trouble.

what is the specific option I require in PUAE core options please?

Your best bet is to set a super resolution in crt emudriver first. Then start a game, go to settings, video, output, pick your resolution and set as core overrides. Right now most probably just picks a resolution close to what it expects. That’s not an output of emu but your driver nearest resolution

Even then it just resorts back to that 768 x 512 resolution everytime a new screen loads in game. Also I couldnt find any option of double x and y that you suggested in your previous post.
