Wii - Nightly 2015-11-28 doesn't work

Hi there,

I have a Wii 3.4U (hacked). I have tested 1.2.2 version but I got black screen when I selected a Core or a Game, then I have copied the files from “2015-11-28_RetroArch.7z” over the “apps/retroarch-wii” folder to replace the files of 1.2.2 version. Now, I can select the Core (it’s great) but I have tried with at least 50 Roms of my Mame (I have 6700 roms). Only 3 rooms worked, with the others I get black screen and I have to turn off/on my Wii manually.

In resume, many black screens and frozen.

Some solution?

Wii doesn’t have an actual MAME core, it’s FBA, which uses similar but different ROMs. If you google ‘fba roms’ you should be able to get ones that will work more consistently.

There is a compatibility list for FBA cores for RetroArch Wii published in this thread: http://libretro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3555 Needless to say, go towards the end of the thread to get the latest rev sheet. The list is primarily for the 1.0.0.2 version as that’s what all the games were tested with. It should help you see what is known to work and might save you some time with trial and error. Most should work with the 1.2.2 version. However some of the 1.2.2. cores are larger in size that the 1.0.0.2 versions, which means less RAM to load ROM code into some some of the larger games that work in 1.0.0.2 might not work in 1.2.2 cores.
