Win64 and Android Test Builds

thx for the reply!

the MAME Git core works fine on the Snapdragon800 device even with the CAVE SH3 games?so I think MESS Git should work just OK with 16-bit .

the real trouble maybe the input …use virtual keyboard is real pain in a** on android…but how about only contain the MESS console/handheld drivers?

BTW: MESS really has some working drivers there are never had in any device except X86 PC like Super A’can,FM Towns Marty! It would be awesome that these system can played on android

8-bit is what I’m interested in. In particular Acorn BBC. Don’t know if MESS has BBC emulation but my fingers are crossed

I’m still having issues building anything Android on the MAME/MESS/UME 0.153+ source tree, even though MAMEDEV was suppose to fix it so it compiles for Android again, I haven’t been so lucky.

Also currently I have been having some of my personal health issues that has been severely affecting my eyesight and limiting what I can and how much I can on the computer right now, so I have been giving more of my pc time to my side project that I am about to post about very soon. Though that will mainly concern those that use frontends or when RGUI has a more graphical UI.

Take care of yourself ! nothing compares to your health…

Thanks for the info lordashram and I hope that your health improves soon.

Hi guys, I wanted to try some cave SH3 games on the lastest test build using the Mame 2014 core. But whenever I load one of the games like Mushihime Tama or Mushihimesama, the app just freezes and ask to wait or close. Any idea of why this happens?

Thanks in advance

PS: I hope you get better, lordashram, thanks for all your hard work!

Your roms might be incomplete or outdated. Try downloading them from another source.

Your roms might be incomplete or outdated. Try downloading them from another source.[/quote] Thanks. I could successfully load Espgaluda II and Mushihimesama Futari, although my tablet runs them slowly. It has a 1,2GHz Dual Core processor, GPU Mali-400 and 1GB Ram DDR3, but it seems like is not enough xD

Yeah, Cave SH-3 emulation is quite slow, even my PC struggles with it. You’ll need about 3,5 GHz to run those games at constant fullspeed in MAME.

Indeed xD Kinda off-topic but, you know? I tried Tetris Grand Master 2 using the FBA core, and it runs kinda slow. I know SH3 needs more power, but TGM2 too? Is there any combination of settings to improve the speed? I ask you since you are answering quite fast xD Thanks again

MAME/FBA emulate lots of different kinds of hardware, so speed will vary a lot between games. TGM2 is running on a Psikyo SH2 board, which emulates faster but still might be too much for your tablet to handle. You could try disabling some of the background apps too free up some processing power, but I don’t think there’s much else that could be done.

Got it  Thanks again

I think the A9 1.5Ghz quad cores 1g ram is the pass line for cave sh3 games like deathsmiles, on this device ,you can disable the sound to get a reasonable speed in game.

but I recommend Snapdragon800/Tegra4 device to run retroarch MAME2014 core.

I ran into issues compiling the Android port, I filed an issue on git hub, so updates for that will have to wait.

Not to hijack my own thread, but i finally posted about my little side project here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1958&p=14583#p14583

My eye sight has only gotten a little bit better and I will be having several surgeries to help over the next month or so, so expect re;eases and updates to still be erratic for now.

I wish you a speedy recovery… Take care!

Wish you the best, take care.

Thanks guys, I love doing this stuff (and playing it too) and I will still try to do as much as I can, but if you don’t see any posts from me for a while at a time at least you know why.

And thanks to The Maister & SquarePusher for the quick Android fix.

I really wish for you to get better soon, eyesight problems are a serious matter. Don’t forget you are not obliged to provide fresh builds regularly, so don’t stress yourself out if you don’t have time to update them.
