Win64 and Android Test Builds

the only thing missing on the setup: Nvidia Shield + nyko playpad pro is:

1- no way to the L2/R2 triggers to be detected. 2 - every time you exit the emulator you have to remap the start/select button. if not the SELECT will be the ‘return’ button from both shield and Nyko. What is odd is in the input -> player1/2 custom binds, the value is correct. I just need to remap this two guys. This problem does not happen if you turn off the Nyko.

Any way to start incorporating ‘immersive mode’ into these test build so we can hide those pesky ‘on screen buttons’?

Thanks in advance…

BTW… Love the new RetroArch icon…

About non-working custom bindings… As we know now it’s a common issue for people with JXD S5110b, S7300, S7800, Yinlips and likes. I’ve contacted some owners of these devices and all of 'em confirmed the same problem. Although you’ve added autodetection for JXD S7800b controls in the last update they still stop working occasionally according to LIGHTaz (he says he’ll post a log later).

So I’ve tried all builds one by one and only RetroArch 2013-10-22 and 2013-10-27 miss that. 0.9.9.6 r22 works fine too. In recent test builds custom binds can be activated only by switching to desktop and back to RetroArch.

Here are the logs of both 10/27 and 01/12 builds. Hope it’ll help tracing this annoying bug…

RetroArch-2013-12-04

Android: Updated: RetroArch, MAME2013, Mupen64plus

NOTE: For best results with Android port, be sure to uninstall previous version before installing newer version.

Yes, I confirm that in 2013-12-01 build there’s an input problem even with working autodetection for JXD S7800B. After the first start of RetroArch the controls work properly. But after minimizing and maximizing the app and choosing “Resume Content” the controls stop working. You need to go back to the menu and load the ROM you played last time again.

Here is my log:

Games seem to freeze after a while on picodrive in the latest version(04-12-13). Does this happen to anyone else? Using a jxd s7800b.

Acid - I have had pico drive freeze. Usually at the start if I press any button while the Sega splash screen is displayed

Played some 32x, Sega CD and Genesis games on Picodrive and had no any freezes (04-12-13 build). Try clearing RetroArch data and don’t forget that your roms must be unzipped.

@lordashram, can you please change the default value for ‘video_font_size’ from 48.000000 to 36.00000? 48 is way too big for 800*480.

Hey all its been awhile but is anyone else having problems getting fast forward to work? Fast forward works great on the official build but but these builds seems to have the problem, none of them have worked on my end. I don’t believe its my tablet not being fast enough either, its a nexus 7 2013.

I am not complaining but I thought this may need to be brought to attention if nobody knew about it. Thanks for all the hard work!!

on my htc one with cm10.2 it freezes for me too :frowning:

hope it get fixed why its the only app that can my psx games at full speed and good resulotion without there pixels like epsxe and fpse, that too emulators are to slow with the opengl plugin on my htc

Seems to also be freezing for other people too. How long have you played? It doesn’t seem to crash immediately. Try finishing a stage in a megadrive game.

For me it will freeze immediatly though it is random. I could launch the same game 3 times in a row without issue then the 4th time a freeze. Usually on Sonic 1 which is the only game I’ve been trying at the moment.

I am using zipped up roms though so that might be the problem

Tried playing Streets of Rage 3 unzipped yesterday and it still froze after a while.

I finished 2 levels in Bare Knuckle 3 (took me about 15 minutes) with no freezes or any lag. Maybe you guys should logcat this?

Uhm sure. What’s a logcat and how do I do it? Forgive my ignorance. :expressionless:

I’m not sure if this has been reported, but running MAME 1.50 or 1.39 within this dev Android port results in no sound for the Mortal Kombat 2/3 games. Strangely enough, sound works fine on those games if you run MAME .78. Another strange bug is that Mortal Kombat 1 has performance issues on both newer MAME versions, but run fine on .78.

Other arcade games run in MAME 1.39/1.50 run fine so far, but there may be others with issues.

There should be a core option (something about a sound speedhack…?) that applies to MK games. It gives a substantial speedup on those games but may cause issues with sound. You could try enabling/disabling it to see if that helps.

The reason the performance is better on v078 is because it’s super-old and MAME has gotten progressively slower since then. It supports many more games but also has significantly higher requirements.

Can we use cheats / activate overclocking in Mame 2013 with Retroarch windows? Can’t find the option.

I don’t think so. AFAIK, cheats only work with the bsnes core, and that may not even be true anymore (nobody has touched that code in a loooong time), and overclocking is only implemented for SuperFX in snes9x-next, I think.

The DCS Sound speedhack is only available as a core option for MAME ver .78. It’s not listed when you load the 1.50/1.39 cores on Android.

Also, I’m getting the same if not better performance with MK2 on the newer MAME versions than on .78. The character shadows are also displayed in the newer versions but were missing on .78. Only thing missing is the sound.
