Yeah, sorry, life has a funny way of getting crazy busy sometimes!! ! clearly wanted to get it done months ago! Currently it looks mostly like this, just a few bits to clean up and I’ll have it up within the next week I promise
So cool! Just post it already!
Haha, ok! I’m glad you can’t see them (and I’m not going to point them out!) but I’ll iron out the rough patches and upload it later today
Love it!
Star Wars (Atari 1983) and Empire Strikes Back (Atari 1985) 4k Vertical Overlay
Two for one on this cab! No real explanation needed, this is a long overdue upload! Empire was a kit for the original 1983 classic so the only changes are the Yoke art and the marquee. Fully 3D creation of the bezel and yoke etc lovingly re-created by myself, artwork kindly scanned and supplied by the always helpful @ArsInvictus from his cab build. @NeoKarnage, hope these do the job, Enjoy!
Thanks @ArsInvictus, that’s very kind of you as always sorry they took so long! Loving finally getting into your more recent custom overlays, been playing the s*** out of Xexex and Gradius - also that Mikie overlay brings back loads of memories! So many Beautiful overlays we also truly don’t deserve, but there they are!!
Two more masterpiece gifts to the community. No need to ever apologize for something you’re creating in your spare time for free. The quality of overlay artwork that’s come from this forum the last few years is mind blowing. Thanks for the time, effort, and skills used to recreate the cabinets to our favorite games from a long time ago and decades far, far away…
Awesome stuff, @PapaShine… I used your image to make a bezel for my horizontal layouts. Definitely not as cool as the full vertical look, but a huge improvement over the old low res images from picture that we have all been using for a long time. I couldn’t quite get it to fit the game screen as well as my old one, but I’m assuming it had to be stretched vertically to make it work for yours. I also had to slightly alter the inner frame area on both of them to make everything fit better horizontally. Anyway, here’s before and after screenshots for anyone interested.
Before (old art)
After (PapaShine art)
That’s really lovely of you to say, as always I appreciate everyone’s feedback, glad they where worth the wait for you I’m loving having a propper 4k resolution overlay for these two, thanks for encouraging me to get them out the door! Yes totally agree, the sheer volume and quality of the work on this thread blows my mind time after time, we’re so lucky to have so much talent working on this format to bring all of this amazing game art to life! it’s truly priceless.
Hey… that’s awesome. Thanks. There’s still a lot of people using horizontal megabezel setups that, I’m sure, would love to have a nice basic copy of your great artwork to use for their setups. Any of your past ones that you want to post an un-doctored copy of, I’m sure, would be appreciated (no pressure at all). Thanks again for these.
Yeah, that looks incredible… lol. If you can post that with a transparent background so people can use it with any background in megabezel that would be the ultimate resource for this game and ESB (for horizontal that is). Definitely looks awesome.
Thanks @Drybonz, Yes of course, i just don’t use the horizontal format at all anymore after i discovered vertical, but very happy for anyone to make use of this if they can! here’s the bezel on a transparent BG for you - thanks!
Thanks! Looks great. Is there an original that isn’t as cropped/zoomed in (with the sensors/buttons at the top, etc)? I only ask because the megabezel users can zoom in or out as much as they want. If not, no problem, this looks amazing. Thanks again.
Here’s a look at @PapaShine 's horizontal, plugged into megabezel after lighting settings, etc… nice and crisp looking! This is how we have been wanting those plastic molded bezels to look for years. Great work, PapaShine!
If anyone wants to use the Mega Bezel with a vector type shader for this you could try Mega_Bezel/Presets/Variations/Vector/Vector-Color-HighResMode__STD.slang it’s especially set up to use fbneo’s high res mode
Thanks, HSM. The pic above is using the MAME Current Hi Res option at 1080… not sure how it compares to FBNeo but it does make the lines bolder. The ones I posted before that were Hi Res with the 780 res… less bold but you can still see the vector dots at the corners, which tickles the nostalgia for me.
Did you use one of my T molding assets? That’s awesome! It fits well!
Ah, sorry I may well have done! I lifted it from the reference @Drybonz posted and bent it into shape yes, it works well, thank you for the use of it @Orionsangel - if I ever post it anywhere I’ll attribute the trim to you
