The Sony PlayStation, or PS for short, is a fifth generation (1993–2005) home video game console developed and distributed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released on December 3, 1994 in Japan at a retail price of ¥37,000. The console was later released in North America (1995), Europe (1995), Australia (1995), and Korea (1996). The PlayStation was known for standardizing disc based games over cartridges, as well as controllers with two analog sticks and vibration feedback. The console was discontinued on March 23, 2006.
Updating this overlay a bit but will still leave the old one up. The new update has higher quality assets. Particularly the diamond shaped Sony logo. I also made some cosmetic changes. I personally play with HDR on, so I included additional screenshots how this one looks with both SDR and HDR. Hope you like it!

I’m loving these! Beautiful work
Thanks so much! Means a lot coming from you! Love this thread! Thanks for everything you’ve done here.
I think your vertical overlays are awesome, but I actually prefer THESE overlays. I like that they’re more horizontal and close up. I didn’t see a download link. Do you still have the download link for these?
Yes, you can find them here:
I’ve been more focused on actual arcade cabinets of late, and am building reproduction cabinets etc. But my main gaming setup is now a 4 player horizontal setup and I’m using @HyperspaceMadness’s mega bezel for that. If I can get some free time from all this other arcade stuff I’m doing I may convert these over to the mega bezel format too.
Glad you like them
Wow…this is awesome! Thank you so much! And keep up the good work. I’m looking forward to more of what you’ve been working on. Everything looks great. You’re very talented & creative. All of you guys on here are.
Been really excited to finally make this one. Credit to OrionsAngel for the bezel. Can’t tell you how fun it was to create this! Hope you like it!
Daytona USA (デイトナUSA) is a Sega Model 2 arcade racing game developed by Sega AM2. It was initially given a limited release in Japan in 1993 to gauge public reaction to the new model hardware before its full, international release the following March. It is loosely based on the NASCAR racing event at the Daytona International Speedway, located in real life in Daytona Beach, Florida in the United States of America. Daytona USA and all of its sequels and rereleases (except Sega Racing Classic, in which case someone else already held the arcade license) have been officially sponsored by the International Speedway Corporation.
Amazing. Can I adapt to MAME?
Thanks! Yeah go for it! I am not familiar with setting up for Mame format.
That’s incredible, I love that you were able to get the wide angle view and maintain a good screen size at the same time
Thanks! Honestly using Orionangels bezel sorta set the tone for proper fit for the rest. I will likey make some touch ups. I am new to warping textures. This version is more like a seated version of the cab. I plan on doing an upright next. Probably will look a bit cleaner.
Daytona Upright version
Did lots of clean up on this compared to the original. I think I like how this one turn out better than the first. I will probably put out one more version of the sit down cab with the cleaner assets. I found some clear pedal assets I think I can utilize next.
Daytona Sit-down version (Clean)
Cool! So here is the last one for the Daytona vertical overlay. This is an alternate version of the original sit-down I uploaded. It has the frame with T-molding all the way to the floor. I used some cleaner assets all around for this one. If anyone sees something they think needs tweaked, let me know.
Daytona Twin version Sit-down with coin door
Seriously last one… Twin version for this cab has a coindoor to the bottom left added. The speakers below the marquee have also been removed. This allowed more space for the pedals. I suppose this is more accurate to a real Twin arcade Daytona cab.
Virtua Racing Deluxe
Virtua Racing is Sega’s first ever 3D, polygon-based racing game. The game consists of racing Formula-1-looking cars around a beginner, intermediate, or expert track, competing against a second player or computer drivers. Despite having Formula-1 cars, the game controls are very “arcadey” and players can see the leap they made from here to Daytona. The Megadrive/Genesis version of Virtua Racing is of note as it is the only game for the system which features the SVP chip (Sega Virtua Processor). The chip is a 3D processor built into each cartridge (the console itself had limited 3D capability) and is very similar to the SNES’s SuperFX chips, used in games such as Starfox and Stunt Race FX.
This cabinet used a 16:9 CRT. You may want to also switch your aspect ratio to match 16:9. You can still use 3:4 and just stretch you bezel assuming you use megabezel. I am using megabezel in 16:9 for the screenshot below.
Some final touches to control panel buttons, view buttons, LED display. Sprry for multiple uploads. Seems like the window to edit posts is very limited.
Outrun (SEGA/1986)
Is an arcade driving video game. It is known for its pioneering hardware and graphics, nonlinear gameplay, a selectable soundtrack with music composed by Hiroshi Kawaguchi, and the hydraulic motion simulator deluxe arcade cabinet.
Looks fantastic! Love your work!
