Do you guys know if Taito’s Gunlock / Rayforce ever had an official cabinet?

It’s an amazing vertical shooter with crazy scaling 3D effects where you basically are descending from space into the core of a planet with an awesome combo missile lock on mechanic.

Looking around it seems that the arcade was released for Taito’s Egret “Candy Cabinets”.

Yeah, as @hgoda90 mentioned, it was only released in Japanese arcades so there was no western style art set for it. That would be a fun one to do a custom design for too.

Whipped up a custom marquee for Rayforce, I can work on a bezel too, though there is also the standard art set that Taito offered for the F3 hardware generation, which is what this game ran on. It’s just a bit bland.

That was fast! I can’t thank you enough for all of your contributions. I would love to see one of your bezels for this game.

Maybe a quick “Raiden Fighters Jet” bezel remix would work well for this game. As only the marquee would be needed. Replacing the Febtek logos with Taito’s? Or even just a coin door version would be amazing.

Yeah I could do that easily enough, there was no good copy of the RF Jet marquee that I could ifnd so I created something very similar myself and can swap out a logo easy enough. Was RF Jet originally a Taito game and Fabtek just distributed it in the west?

Coin door version is easy too…

Looking into it, Seibu Kaihatsu was the developer of Raiden Fighters Jet and Fabtek was the publisher.

I just realized I misunderstood your message lol. Yes I can throw together something simple for Rayforce pretty quickly. I do want to see if I can come up with something cool but can have a plastic bezel version with a coin door thrown together so you can use it soon. Maybe this evening.

Rayforce / Gunlock 4K Vertical Overlay

This one is for @tekn0. I just have a coin door version out there now but will add a control panel version later. The file is gunlock.png in this case. It’s in the MegaBezel share here under the vertical overlay directory:

If used with the megabezel configuration supplied in the pack this has reflections applied directly to the plastic bezel.

I am in no rush. Take all the time you need to do what you think is best. I just thought maybe swapping a few things from the RF Jet bezel could be an easy turn around. But if you have a vision to do something proper. I would love to see what you come up with in the future.

Wow that looks awesome! Thank you so much I really appreciate it. I just realized we were both posting at the exact same time lol.

I’ve been away for the past year, I’ll have to look into the megabezel configurations. I don’t recognize those “.params” files. Is there a guide on how to use them?

Rayforce 4k Overlay with Control Panel

Added the Taito F3 style control panel to this overlay. The coin-door one is still in the directory. You would have to update the Gunlock.params file to set the image to the coin door file name if you prefer that variation.

Shouldn’t the panel say shoot instead of shot.

Edit: Found it. It would make sense than.

No, on the original japanese marquee, it says Shot.

Such amazing work as always. Thank you so much for this!

Yeah I often purposely leave awkward English translations and phrasing in these things. I think it is part of the charm of that era
