Yeah, I’d like to produce other versions (mame/retroarch overlay) too, but want to automate that configuration process as much as possible, I still have work to do to automate creation of the megabezel versions and would work on the others after that.

Thanks @HyperspaceMadness!!! Why not some more? Cyberbots, Tournament Cyberball 2072, Crystal Castles, Contra and Congo Bongo.

Cyberball 2072 is actually a side by side two monitor game, so I did what I could. Maybe a more proper overlay, like Punchout, although not realisitic, can be made.

That completes C letter from Vertical Arcades.

Nice! Does anyone else remember playing Missile Command in the sit-down cabinet? Man, that was the coolest thing at the time!

I’m looking for a 4K TV to build my vertical-still-rotable cab, and I’m wondering about the VRR option, mostly Freesync and HDR too. I’d love to run those “non 60 Hz games” to their original refresh rate. Some of them run at 54Hz (like Mortal Kombat) and some run even faster than 60 HZ. Clearly, high refresh rate like 144 or 244HZ is not mandatory but yes, you can run games doubling the original rate, like 120 Hz for a 60 fps game. On the other hand, the lowest refresh rate is important for those lower than 60fps games. I think 48 Hz is the lowest (so it covers “PAL” emulation at 50Hz). Regarding HDR, I’ve seen those new CRT shaders looking fantastic in HDR, or so they say Maybe @HyperspaceMadness can enlight me how to use it with his MB shaders too. What do you think guys? Have you tried that in Retroarch?

I just got a 43" Samsung flat Odyssey 4K monitor. It was on sale at a good price. I don’t have it set up to rotate, but it’s got VESA mount, so you easily could. Not sure if it fits what you’re looking for but worth checking it out. I’ve been loving it.

Generally for HDR I think just turning it retroarch will do a conversion of the SDR output to HDR.

AFAIK there is more than enabling HDR in RA. @Cyber has developed some shaders specifically for HDR. I can’t check right now if any of your presets includes his shader, or any other HDR shader @HyperspaceMadness, but it will be nice having it.

Yes it does! Have you tried Mortal Kombat and also a higher-than-60Hz game?

Yeah, it supports 144 at 4K. Mortal Kombat I haven’t played in some time.

According this you should be able to run MK at it’s native fps/Hz of 54, so your TV should be scanning at 108 Hz.

Regarding higher than 60 FPS games, I can’t recall any game, but there are some, you should try those too. From AMD Freesync page

Low framerate compensation (LFC), allows AMD FreeSync technology to work when the framerate falls below the minimum refresh rate of the display. When the framerate drops below the minimum refresh rate of the display, frames are duplicated and displayed multiple times so that they can sync to a refresh rate that is within the displays refresh rate range. For example, a display with a 60 – 144Hz refresh rate, would be able to sync the frames of a game running at 40 FPS, by doubling them so that the display could sync and run at 80 Hz. A display with LFC effectively results in the removal of the minimum refresh rate boundary. All displays in the AMD FreeSync Premium and FreeSync Premium Pro tier are certified to meet mandatory LFC requirements.

My point is, with Retroarch and a VRR setup, you just “kill” the only reason real CRT were still needed: Native game refresh rate.

Yeah, I don’t want to derail this thread (we really need a general hardware discussion thread because so many conversations steer that way) but I don’t ever really think about native refresh rates, etc… everything plays fine (smooth) in RA without having to think about that.

You’re right about not derailing. I got carried away…

Not the best game for a vertical overlay but here it is: Darius.

That would be a tough one for vertical because they were three screens wide. It was tough to figure out how to do horizontally even.

Yeah, the correct aspect ratio should be 4:1 (3x4:3). You can clearly see the pilots are squeezed. Horizontally, I’d prefer to use a full screen overlay than a realistic one, for screen real state sake.

D&D Tower of Doom, D&D Shadows over Mystara, Dark Stalkers, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Donkey Kong 3. Including large screen when available.

That completes D letter from Vertical Arcade

I can’t figure how to make a non rectangular bezel reflection, like a trapeze for Shadow over Mystara big blue cab, or Dark Stalkers cab, for the reflection to fill the whole plastic bezel. Maybe @HyperspaceMadness can help me with those.

Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monster, Frogger, Two Crude (clone of Crude Buster), Gauntlet II, Gauntlet, Gain Ground, GigaWing, Hyper Sports, Heated Barrel.

Except for Food Fight and an alternate version of Frogger (which have to be reworked for HSM MB), letter F, G and H from Vertical Arcade are complete.

Thanks to @sorbeppe: Chelnov, Chopper I, Circus Charlie, Alcon and Tetris (atetris). Full bezel and large screen when available.

@K-rnivoro the only thing I could think of getting it this way on any bezel is 3D tilt in Curvature. The only problem is that it uses more power to use the setting.
