Read the title! Why wasn’t this implemented in the first place?
Can you be a little more specific? What information? What thumbnails where?
Everything that gets done has to be done by someone. If it’s not there already it’s because someone didn’t think of it or didn’t want to do it for some reason.
You know, the thumbnails you can get in Thumbnails Updater?
Why aren’t they there in other places? ( Favorites and Recent )

The way the thumbnails work, they need to be in a folder with the same name as the playlist and then the image has to have the same name as the ROM. So, it’s not really possible to link them up outside of that context. For example, if you have the history playlist and it has “Aladdin” in it (or one of the dozen “Prince of Persia” ports), it doesn’t know if it’s the one for SNES, Genesis, NES, GG, etc.
If we were to scrap the existing playlist format, we could extend it to include the direct path to the thumbnail (along with other useful information) rather than using the automated heuristics, but Twinaphex doesn’t want to break the format any time soon, so I wouldn’t hold your breath.
