[Android] PCSX Rearmed not as smooth as previous versions

Hi all. I may have mentioned this before here, but on Android it seems the PCSX Rearmed core isn’t as smooth now as it was on previous builds. I’m finding some slowdown, not a tremendous amount but noticeable, especially on the fighter intro animations on Tekken 3 and just generally on other games. I don’t see this on the Pi3 with Retroarch and I’m sure my device should be up to it (MOJO with Cyanogenmod) as it was fine some time ago.

I had a play with a couple of options in case I’d missed something but nothing I change seems to improve it. Any ideas? Thanks all.

Make sure you don’t have rewind turned on.

I’ll check that and report back. I’m pretty sure I haven’t as it messes about with other emus doesn’t it?

I realise it is a bit of a vague sounding report, sorry, but there is a noticeable slowness that I’m only seeing on the core. Thanks for responding anyway.

No, there hasn’t been anything done to PCSX-ReARMed any time recently, and I don’t know of anything done to RetroArch that would cause it.

Unfortunately, performance on Android is always a crapshoot, even on the same device. You might try rebooting your machine, though it could be any number of behind-the-scenes things causing issues.

I regularly reboot my console and it doesn’t help it sadly. I suppose I’ll have a play around some more in the settings and see what I come up with. I don’t want to go too nuts as it is largely very good, just once or twice I’m seeing the slowdowns that I don’t see on the Pi 3/Retropie.

Never mind! Thanks again for replying.

That’s an awesome tip ! I had it enabled and now that I disabled it, the core is smoother and I can fast-forward way faster. Thanks !

Maybe it’s related: https://github.com/libretro/pcsx_rearmed/issues/78

Update the core and see how it goes.

Thank you very much for your response Sergio. It does indeed seem like this may be the issue.

I do keep a keen eye on the nightly page to see if this core has been updated. I haven’t seen it updated for about two weeks to be honest. Hopefully this will be updated shortly and I’ll post back if the issue is resolved.

My thanks again.

My thanks to the posters in this thread for replying, and especially thanks and much love to the Retroarch/emulator developers and community. This issue has now been resolved with the latest core updates on Android.
