Atari800 core crashing on android

Yesterday it was fine, but controls were crappy, so I tried to update the core. Suddenly all my Atari 5200 games are not working anymore.

Not that 5200 has great games btw, but my OCD keeps telling me “you have a non functional system on your device…”.

I’m on android 8 aad, like I’ve said, it worked before the core update, though I don’t know what version of the core I had previously.

Thanks a lot!

Same here - load a game and it just drops out back to the android launcher on android tv…

Anyone more having this problem? How to fix it without using another repo and downloading an old version of the core?

I am having the same problem however tested it out on windows and it works so not sure what is wrong with the android core.

Anyone got it to work?

Also works fine in the Mac version - not tried the RPi…

Anyone got an update or had success with the Android Core?

I’ve changed to mame, since no one seems to care about this issue…

The same here I Unfortunely upadate the atari 800 core on my shiled tv and now it crash. Disapointed

I have also changed to mame but unfortunately it does not have the same compatibility. Its just a shame that no one can assist with this core.

Dont know if it possible to download an older version of this core on android?

If knowone drops in here you should try to post a detailed report of the problem on GitHub under the Atari800 core.

Its a better way to hightlight the issue to people that can fix it.

Not every core developer or maintainer reads the forums or all of its posts.

Good hint, I’ll try this! Thanks!

I took a look at the logcat for this issue and it appears that the atari800 core is using a syscall that is now disallowed by Android for security reasons. I dug as deep as I could without knowing how libretro works, and updated the bug: https://github.com/libretro/libretro-atari800/issues/16

Can anyone explain how to set up A5200 to use MAME on Android/Nvidia Shield TV? I’ve been unable to get this working for myself.
