It’s not required that they be open source, but all of the existing (known) cores are. Not all have libre licenses, though. Some are noncommercial, for example.
Open source is great for technical discussion. To cut to the chase I seek a chip design I can import into my gitgub to make full-libre independently verifiable software/hardware all the way to machine. The gameboy original sharp CPU and core is simple enough that it should be portable on anything lately. Can the actual CPU design be identifiable from the core CPU emulation code? Also the discussion can go towards exploring an inverted CycloneV design where my android would emulate a CycloneV dualFPGA. If you want to start discussing here that is OK but it would be good to have a topic findable in the forum.
Hi all, I heard that there are Blargg filters for other console systems besides SNES, would it be possible to have them available in the RetroArch graphics filters section? Thank you very much for your work.
Another vote for xemu.
hi. regarding SNES emulation: the WHEN MARIO RUNS bug ! in super mario world, when you keep the run button pressed to run faster in the first level and run the whole way straight from left to right and vice versa, there is a very visible tearing / hiccup which affects all other games alike i.e. aero the acrobat. this bug is decades old and is on every known snes emulator. no author ever managed to squish this bug. requesting fix ! thanks for reading.
please add console link based netplay for pcsxrearmed
please add 2x resolution option for melonds (not ds ds)
please add netplay for flycast and mupen64 / parallel
bugfix sega genesis: in shinobis revenge when you walk straight for a while there is also a hiccup / tearing. this bug is also on every known genesis emulator
I need mame_libretro.dll for mame 0.270. Do you have any backup to share with me?
Does RetroArch for Windows have the ability to rotate the UI 90 degrees? For example if I wanted to rotate my display 90 degrees (vertical/portrait) to play vertical shooters, can RetroArch automatically or manually rotate it’s UI so things won’t be weird until I exit said vertical game and rotate my display back to horizontal (landscape) mode?
If not, can this be added please?
There is an option, but not sure if this is what you was looking for. In RetroArch > Settings > Video > Output > Video Rotation. Sorry I just noticed this was an old question by yours.
It’s okay. RetroArch for Windows actually supports full portrait or landscape mode and automatically adjusts to suit whatever mode or resolution the OS reports.
So my question has basically been answered by a field test and it’s easy to switch between portrait and landscape mode for vertical games which was my main concern.
Thanks for the tip.
I was able to use the analog joystick by pressing the button in the image below in the MAME kernel in the Android version. It was disabled in 1.20. Can we reactivate it somehow? If not, is it possible to add it in the next kernel version?
Sorry my bad English.
Please add rainbow effect blargg NTSC to Genesis core
Using weylus for second screen option (for nvidia and amd gpu‘s under Linux and Windows) with android and ios phones/tablets
With a Virtual Display Driver you can set up a second screen for several use cases.
You can use the second screen for various cores and retroarch itself:
- DS Second Screen Touch Screen
- 3DS Second Screen Touch Screen
- Dolphin - GBA connection
- Dreamcast - VMU Unit display
- Wii - DS connection
- Wii U - second screen
- GB/GBC/GBA/PSP - Multiplayer Games
- Retroarch - Options Screen for a game, to adjust options in real time
Thanks to the GPL license of weylus the source can be used and modified. The latency must be optimised for WiFi maybe with WiFi 6 or with adding a feature for usb connection to avoid the latency over WiFi
Is it possible to add texture filtering with ParaLLEl approach? I like the mupen plugin as well, however bilinear filtering (beside tri point in 64 case) for all textures (or no filtering at all) would be great for N64 as well as for PS2.
High Resolution is really great but a texture replacement and texture filtering (none, tri-point, biliear, maybe xbrz - for all textures/sprites) is meanwhile a highly appreciated request
It would make things easier and useful, if the current associated save file would be listed in the Information of the current running game too. Just for convenience off course. Also useful to know, if a game uses some SRAM functionality at all, without searching the directories and looking for the correct file.
Sega Linbergh Loader
Are there any plans to add this new emulator as a core please?
Thank you.
