It’s not required that they be open source, but all of the existing (known) cores are. Not all have libre licenses, though. Some are noncommercial, for example.
Open source is great for technical discussion. To cut to the chase I seek a chip design I can import into my gitgub to make full-libre independently verifiable software/hardware all the way to machine. The gameboy original sharp CPU and core is simple enough that it should be portable on anything lately. Can the actual CPU design be identifiable from the core CPU emulation code? Also the discussion can go towards exploring an inverted CycloneV design where my android would emulate a CycloneV dualFPGA. If you want to start discussing here that is OK but it would be good to have a topic findable in the forum.
Hi all, I heard that there are Blargg filters for other console systems besides SNES, would it be possible to have them available in the RetroArch graphics filters section? Thank you very much for your work.
Another vote for xemu.
hi. regarding SNES emulation: the WHEN MARIO RUNS bug ! in super mario world, when you keep the run button pressed to run faster in the first level and run the whole way straight from left to right and vice versa, there is a very visible tearing / hiccup which affects all other games alike i.e. aero the acrobat. this bug is decades old and is on every known snes emulator. no author ever managed to squish this bug. requesting fix ! thanks for reading.
