Core options not showing up in mednafen psx core

hi all

I finally got around to fiddle with RetroArch, and I must say I’m really impressed. Some cores, like the PSX and the Yabause one, work really well for what I need them to do. I’m running Windows 7 ultimate edition 64 bit, and I use Kodi media center together with Rom Collection Browser to start my roms.

For PSX I have mainly party games which normally need a multitap plugged in to port 1 or 2, some other games I have cannot have a multitap plugged in as they won’t work with it. Therefore, I decided to save a configuration for each game in RetroArch so that I can start each game with its own configuration. So far so good. The problem I have is that the core options in the mednafen psx core are not present in the GUI. There’s only “no options” written. Therefore I can’t chose multitap in port 1 or 2. I’m using one of the latest RetroArch nightlies (64 bit) and the most recent mednafen psx core found under “latest” (64 bit)

Also, when I want to change the pad type in the core i cannot choose dual shock. I can do that only after I have started a game and I enter the GUI while the game is running. I’m not sure if this is a bug in the core or a problem on my end. Does anybody have an idea?

You’ll need to boot up a game first to make the core options appear, this also applies to console specific controller types. It’s inconvenient, but fixing that would require breaking some other things.

Hi Oggom

Thanks for clarifying. But these options cannot be saved to the config while the game is running, right? Can I enter them in the config and save them manually?

The options save correctly if you exit the emulator cleanly, and they are supposed to be changed when the game is running actually that’s the whole idea

Hi Radius

Ok, got it. Where are these variables stored? Not in the config file it seems, because when I make a copy of my psx core config, and I change multitap port 1 to enabled, it’s still enabled when I load the other config. That’s not a big deal, I can change the entry manually for games which need a multitap plugged in, but this makes per game configs unusable.
