Please please please either add warnings or change the uninstaller for Windows! Currently running the uninstaller deletes EVERYTHING in the folder, even files that have nothing to do with RetroArch. I accidentally installed it to the Program Files (x86) folder directly and when running the uninstaller to remove it and reinstall in its own folder, it started removing ALL the files in the folder and worst yet, it started with erasing non-RetroArch files, when I caught it I had lost 300GB worth of dataā€¦ Currently running data recoveryā€¦

Regarding PS2/PCSX2 Playlist (naming convention) in RetroArch.

There are still many of us that utilize actual PS2 consoles with OPL (Open PS2 Loader) Homebrew. We are limited to 32 characters and only these characters for ISO file names:

A-Z a-z 0-9 - _ ( ) [ ]

And in precisely this naming format:

GameID.xx.GameName.iso

In example:

SCUS_971.01.Twisted Metal - Black.iso

Additionally, the box art that is fetched for these ISOā€™s via OPL Manager, is in the format of:

SCUS_971.01_COV.jpg

I was wondering, hoping really, that if it were at all possible, this could be taken into some consideration for the PS2 resources on RetroArch, as far as it applying its own playlist names (therefore also the gameā€™s box art).

It is a harrowing ordeal to rename the ISO files (OPL Managerā€™s built-in rename utility has not been updated to adhere to the new 32 character limit, which includes the GameID, nor the redaction of ā€œspecial charactersā€).

Even more harrowing, is having to edit them all one-by-one to use the same ISOā€™s, as needed, between these two emulatorsā€¦ (and the box art, too).

I propose a method of truncation (to hide the ā€œGameID.xx.ā€ suffix portion of the ISO names in the generated playlist names). IF it be at all possible, to integrate this into RetroArch somehow. Sort of like how we get to choose some special designations within the scan directory fields already. (So this wouldnā€™t negatively impact those NOT using OPL and ISO names setup specifically for that).

We cannot use OPL with these ISOā€™s if theyā€™re not exactly ā€œGameID.xx.GameName.isoā€ anymore; not in a few years, now; presumably forever.

But if we leave them as-is for OPL, then it is just as harrowing an ordeal to use these same ISOā€™s with that naming format with RetroArch. (And having to manually add every box art; renamed too).

Hell of a shot in the dark here, I know, but there it is. Figured itā€™d be best to take a shot at it with the PCSX2 core being so new, than sit on it and wait until it was definitely too late for it to maybe happen. Thanks.

Now that Steam Deck is a thing. Will you be supporting SteamOS? I know you are in the steam store already but it is as coming soon. But the requirements are windows. So having this in SteamOS to play all my retro games will be awesome. looking forward to it.

FYI Steam OS is just Linux (Debian) so it should work!

My bad, TimSweeneyEpic tweet confused me since he said SteamOS is a fork of Arch Linux. Sorry been out of the game a little with linux so many distros. but i was referring to like when i have steam os open i can select retropi as an option and it loads. I think RetroArch is in the steam store.

Can an option to directly exit Retroarch be added to the quick menu? This saves a additional step when using Retroarch on a handheld like RG350. When you are playing a game and you pull up the quickmenu. If you want to get back to the default interface you have to quit the current content, then close retroarch. Having a quit retroarch directly from the quick menu would save a step and really make the whole process flow smoother.

It already exists. Settings > user interface > Quit on Close Content.

What are you a wizard? Iā€™ve been looking for this setting for the last 20 minutes.

Am I the only one who would love to see a CBR/CBZ support in Retroarchā€™s image viewer? That and some convenient zoom in/out functionality.

Or maybe a port of one of the currently available comic readers as a core? I believe YACReader and Mcomix are open source.

For me, games and comics always went hand in hand, so having them both on one platform would be like Christmas all year long.

Theoretically you can extract CBRs and view individual JPGs, but thatā€™s impractical with bigger collections.

This would surely help shift the perception of RA from a ā€œprogram for emulatorsā€ to a full-blown multimedia machine.

Suggestion: When saving Overrides, remove the ability for RA to save both the cheevos password & cheevos token (Iā€™m not sure if this gets saved when saving the Core Overrides b/c I havenā€™t tested it, but it does save these when saving Game Overrides).

Why? Thereā€™s a whole thread of people on the RetroAchievements web forums who are having trouble logging into RetroAchievements because they have an old token saved in their config files. I had the same issue until I realized that when I was saving Overrides to make sure that my bezels were working, that RA was also saving my RetroAchievements token (the password is blank, so Iā€™m not sure what that does).

Iā€™m not sure if thereā€™s a benefit of keeping this option, but itā€™s causing a lot of people to not be able to log back into their RetroAchievements account.

The lines that are saved:

cheevos_password = ā€œā€

cheevos_token = ā€œ(token would normally go here, I removed it)ā€

thatā€™s not cool behavior, to the extent that I would consider that a bug rather than a usability problem. Would you mind opening an issue about it here? https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues

I think RetroArch/Lakka as an operating system should offer some alternative for running Windows and Linux games. I donā€™t know if this is possible, but itā€™s just whatā€™s needed to make any pc a perfect console. I know this wouldnā€™t be ā€œRetroā€, but it would be a Plus. Probably RA should provide a better performance than Windows or Linux running games of these themselves.

easy per core/game read ahead ā€“ or some kind of database that it can read from would be nice. Iā€™ve noticed that, for example, with FBNeo, Street Fighter Alpha 3 needs 3 frames (a lot of arcade games do) while Street Fighter III: 3rd strike only needs 1. If I want to switch from one to the other, I have to make sure to make changes.

In general it is possible with Dosbox-X Dosbox-x has hardware acceleration via opengl. Means, you can install on top of Dosbox-X a Win98SE OS which can run all Win95/98SE games pretty smooth.

So you need to write a core on base of DosBox-X with Win98SE Integrated, which can boot HDD images on which you can install Windows games.

Sounds easy, but it is a lot of work.

IMHO if eXo hasnā€™t found a solution for efficiently running Win95 & 98 games it is not going to happen.

And we definitely wonā€™t have a core with embedded Microsoft software.

That being said. If you donā€™t dream it, you canā€™t do it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Finally got around to filling out the issue info here. Would love to see this issue fixed, not just for myself, but for people who havenā€™t realized whatā€™s been causing them to not be able to log into RetroAchievements.

Hello. Developers read that topic ? If yes thanks very much with your Retroarch !

In Input menu not has any configuration to set multiple console gamepad button in only one game controller button and not is possible create auto fire for all buttons.

I use a PS3 DS3 controller and configuring input for all cores remain 2 buttons free. Example you using genesis gx core configure 6 buttons and has 2 buttons free. You may use to assign a combo of others buttons. Example you configure in gamepad free button to set a combo genesis buttons A + B + C. User press that button and is how if pressing at same time A+B+C. Another detail autofire button for some cores are 2 buttons and other only 1 button. Having more autofire buttons help example. User load a genesis gx core a game using 6 buttons and configure the core to not use any button in gamepad , but the free buttons will be instead turbo fire for the 6 buttons.

All above are features that work in MAME, BizHawk and others emulators.

Easy changing of wallpapers just by cycling to the left or right. But it would be nice if that is available in Kiosk mode. Whenver I change wallpaper or test one out to see if it displays right Its just an annoyance of having to navigate all over again just to do so.

Itā€™d be lit if we could customize the playlists adding custom icon, background music and wallpaper for each game, it would make the game library much more alive.
