Duimon - HSM Mega Bezel Graphics and Presets - Feedback and Updates

I think it would be possible but alpha would have to be applied to the screen. Just a poc.

Edit: I found a place that has the roms without the graphics applied to them. I was just showing that is possible with possibly a decent amount of editing to the Game & Watch bezels.

I’ll try to play it with MAME, not through RetroArch, to see if it works

The rom I used was made for MAME, or at least was labeled that way. I used it with RetroArch’s MAME - Current core.

Edit: With what Duimon said the file I have is named gnw_dkjr.

They will work in MAME. The MAME roms all start with “gnw_” (i.e. gnw_dkong.zip)

I was able to make it run with the bezel through MAME, but without RetroArch ;(

With the overlay backgrounds from progetto-SNAPS and some effort, these can be run in the Mega Bezel.

Again, it actually pales in comparison. MAME does some multi layering effects to really get the screen to look like the original. That isn’t possible in the Mega Bezel.

it looks super good, but can you integrate the handheld console image?

Like I said. I don’t think it is worth the effort.

I would have to position each and every piece of the overlay elements in Photoshop, (There are 11 in dkong.) just to get a complete console.

After all of that work and adding it to the preset, we would still be left with a result that isn’t as realistic as the MAME or Game & Watch core versions.

That is an awful lot of work for each game for no good reason.

Maybe someone else will want to go through the effort but it won’t be me.

So close, I was going to post them myself. All these handheld images might be better in their own topic.

I don’t mind, these are for standalone MAME so they don’t really belong anywhere on the forum. I tried getting the layouts to load in the MAME core but haven’t had any luck.

Maybe someone that has more experience with the layout feature can give it a go.

That being said… it is a bit off topic and a new visitor may find it confusing.

I got it to load but the MAME core goes real slow. Place the artwork zip file in Retroarch/system/mame/artwork folder

Cool. These layouts are very well done. If anyone would like to learn a bit about what the MAME layout files can do, digging into these would be a good place to start.

I found it runs better, but still has some lag to it, if the Video Settings > Screen is set to Background. The unit can then be loaded through a shader or overlay file.

Edit: Just for the Konami handhelds to load the default.lay file has to only have the Screen Focus option. For Tiger handhelds the default.lay has to only have the Unit only view.
